BTW Grjammer, I really loved that skating rink in Grand Rapids. Ed said "this is the most uninteresting structure we've ever played in". I know you remember. The DeltaPlex I think?? Was a great show however.

Pearl Jam never said "tickets don't sell in the South". Tours don't sell in the South just like albums don't sell anymore with the advent of the Commodore 64. Other than Kenny Chesney, who else is selling? Tim and Faith aren't even playing in Tennessee - Canada is where they're headed. For some reason live music isn't drawing people out in the South at today's ticket prices (even PJ's prices). Tour sponsorship is hell to find.

I do know that economically, things are tuff for a lot of folks right now. The reasons are many. Some people just have to be satisfied to blow their cash on a huge TV and sit home and watch movies and other entertainment. The prices of tickets are out of sight for artists who, in my mind, are way overrated.

For example, we have a small amphitheater here in Atlanta called Chastain. Probably holds 5,000 at most. The big sell is tables and you can bring any food/booze you like. They came out with their summer schedule a couple of days ago. All the tickets are $95 to $150 per person. Steve Nicks is $110. $110!! Just incredible. Most of the other acts playing have careers that are just fond memories. Pro sports went the same route a few years back. Just my opinion...

Oh yeah, I think it was Ed who said it first (or maybe it was Howard Zinn) "there ain't gonna be any middle anymore"

I was there...and I'm sorry to say I've been to more than a few shows at the deltaplex...it is a terrible venue. I'll take pearl jam anywhere I can get them though. I wonder if they enjoyed the venue so much they might be returning at some point? The Van Andel Arena is much nicer.

Gonna post some lyrics from a band that brings out the haterade around here. Oh well, the song seems appropriate for today.

  • It's been over 10 years since Pearl Jam played our beautiful city of Charleston (my first show). It's about time they paid us a visit. After all, I visited their amazing city last year when I went to the Gorge, it's time to repay the favor. They could play at the Performing Arts Center, which wasn't built when they were here, but I'm saying if they really want to make it up to us, they could play a secret show at the Charleston Pour House. It's a great jam band venue with a killer cuban restaurant attached to it.

you ever been to the plex in north charleson? Not saying PJ could ever play there, its too small, but its the coolest fuckin venue, used to be a movie theater and they converted it into a concert hall, so as you are walking to the bar it feels like you are going to a movie, its like seeing a concert in a huge movie theater (minus the popcorn smell)

Weenie, Chastain Park is really great. I saw Neil Young do Greendale there in the pouring rain and it was a real highlight.

But PJ would overrun that neighborhood.

Man, there is SO much going on here......took forever to catch up!

Texas, I feel your pain and I really think you'll get a show. This is a "draft" so who knows what the final plan will be? I mean, you're almost a "whole nother country", right? That can't be ignored....

If the draft is correct, I'll mos def be in Raleigh, Atlanta and Nashville, maybe Florida, too. I think a meet-up in every spot is a must!! Damn I can't hardly wait.........

JTR, thanks for spreading what you know! I realize Chesney sells out here every year but PJ sells out Charlotte every time, too, so I'm glad you spoke out about that!

I'm not heartbroken with them not playing Orlando. The Orena sucks big time for sound. So does Icepalace in Tampa... hope it is at the new amphitheater in Tampa.

Weenie, are you the one talking about t-shirt designs? ( I would scroll back through the posts, but my brain is fried from the day) That is such a great idea! Birds, Trees, Pit Names, and the word FAITHFULL, all kinda rolled into something beautiful, colorful, and fun?

It feels like Christmas and my birthday all at the same time! Once we get the official dates and can start firming up the plans, I won't be able to get this smile off of my face, it really is a dream come true after this long ass wait. And how cool would a ten club show be somewhere in the south? Like i said, its a dream so i might as well dream big, right?
