I don't have any of their dvd's (yet) but I did tape something off of from the tv...which included an amazing version of 'The End' performed in 1969 in Toronto.

WOW! That version was something else!

The Doors are one of the greatest bands of all time. I got to see the Doors of the 21st Century (with the awesome Ian Astbury on vocals) recently and I was blown away. Im sure its only a fraction of what they were back then and that makes me wish I had had the chance to see them.
I've faced it, a life wasted, and I'm never going back again.

Yes. I have "The Doors Collectors Addition." (I believe its called.) Jam packed with good shit. Interviews, rare videos, back stage footage, live footage. Really awesome. Plus there is an option to hear audio commentary on the footage from the surviving Doors. Very cool.

Not a massive fan. I only own the best of the doors but they're style is unique and Jim Morrison looked like he would be a cool dude.

i spent the "summer of love" in a small town in north dakota and there was an arcade there, a teen club if you will, and located therein was a juke box.

and it was in that club, during a winning run on a pin ball machine, that i first heard "Light My Fire" .. fucking amazing, just fucking amazing.

and the rest is now history :)

    my favorite album, Soft Parade

    Runnin' Blues -

    Poor otis dead and gone
Left me here to sing his song
Pretty little girl with the red dress on
    Poor otis dead and gone

Yeah, back down, turn around slowly
    Try it again, remembering when
It was easy, try it again
    Much to easy, rememberin’ when

All right, look at my shoes
    Not quite the walkin’ blues
Don’t fight, too much to lose
    Can’t fight the runnin’ blues

Well, I’ve got the runnin’ blues
    Runnin’ away, back to l.a.
Got to find the dock of the bay
Maybe find it back in l.a.

    Runnin’ scared
    Runnin’ blue
    Goin’ so fast
    What’ll I do

Well, I’ve got the runnin’ blues
    Runnin’ away, back to l.a.
Got to find the dock of the bay
Maybe find it back in l.a.

All right, look at my shoes
    Not quite the walkin’ blues
Don’t fight, too much to lose

All right, look at my shoes
    Not quite the walkin’ blues
Don’t fight, too much to lose
    Can’t fight the runnin’ blues
Down the street you can hear her scream youre a disgrace
As she slams the door in his drunken face
    And now he stands outside
And all the neighbours start to gossip and drool
He cries oh, girl you must be mad,
What happened to the sweet love you and me had?
Against the door he leans and starts a scene,
And his tears fall and burn the garden green

Check out the acoustic version of "Hyacinth House" Fucking awesome!
I would love for Eddie to play that on his guitar.
Wow, would that be cool or what?

yeah, it's a fucking great version and would be done perfectly by ed. Whoever asked if the doors of the 21st century are good, the answer is yes. Ian Astbury does a pretty good job on the vocals and the music is incredible. go and see them if you can.

The cars hiss by my window
Like the waves down on the beach
The cars hiss by my window
Like the waves down on the beach
I got this girl beside me
    But she's out of reach

    Headlight through my window
    Shinin' on the wall
    Headlight through my window
    Shinin' on the wall
    Can't hear my baby
    Though I called and called

    Yeah, right
    Woo!

    Windows started tremblin'
    With a sonic boom
    Windows started tremblin'
    With a sonic boom, boom
    A cold girl'll kill you
    In a darkened room

    Yeah, woo

YES it's true Sathogwa! Isn't that awesome? :D You should totally visit it. My old P.E. teacher use to actually be Jim's too. He use to cut hair and do tats on the side...he cut Jim's hair. He continued to cut hair years down the line with the SAME scissors that cut the mighty man's hair. He also use to tell us stories about him. Pretty fuckin cool. Glad you appreciate the greatness of SOUL KITCHEN as well. Such a rockin song!!! :D

Here's another fav.... no matter HOW many times I hear it... it never fails to take me away. :o

    *CRYSTAL SHIP*

    Before you slip into unconsciousness
I’d like to have another kiss
    Another flashing chance at bliss
    Another kiss, another kiss

The days are bright and filled with pain
Enclose me in your gentle rain
The time you ran was too insane
We’ll meet again, we’ll meet again

Oh tell me where your freedom lies
The streets are fields that never die
    Deliver me from reasons why
You’d rather cry, I’d rather fly

The crystal ship is being filled
A thousand girls, a thousand thrills
A million ways to spend your time
When we get back, I’ll drop a line

    *sigh*

    :o

HAIL HAIL the almighty, legedary DOORS! In a classic league all their own. They can't be compared to anything el
se. Music that will forever ROCK our lives ! :D

    GMTA :D....

    GHOST SONG

    "Awake.
    Shake dreams from your hair
My pretty child, my sweet one.
Choose the day and choose the sign of your day
    The day's divinity
    First thing you see.

A vast radiant beach, a cool jeweled moon
Couples naked race down by it's quiet side
And we laugh like soft, mad children
Smug in the wooly cotton brains of infancy
The music and voices are all around us.

Choose they croon the ancient ones
    The time has come again
    Choose now, they croon
    Beneath the moon
    Beside an ancient lake

    Enter again the sweet forest
    Enter the hot dream
    Come with us
Everything is broken up and dances.

Indians scattered on Dawn's Highway, bleeding
Ghosts crowd the young child's fragile, eggshell mind."

These words coupled with that tribal, jazzy, funky music makes me feel so fucking good, everytime I hear it. A real blessing.

According to ray manzarek, the movie was way off. He said that Jim wasn't this giant drunken bufoon who would shout poetry on top of cars and piss himmself all the time. The movie was entertaining, but i think that it exagerated the partying aspect of morrison.

Yeah, I've heard that too. Ray's book, "Light My Fire" is really good. I would recommend it. He talks about the movie, and slams Oliver Stone pretty hard.

I guess Stone's movie was based in part on John Densmore's book "Rider's on the Storm," where Jim is portrayed as a drunken madman. Ray's book sometimes appears to be at pains to present Jim in a more sane light.

My feeling is the truth is somewhere in the middle of these two depictions.

Yeah I was not too thrilled with the The Doors movie. They never showed the true side of Morrison. They tried to portray him as a drunk, sex machine. I recommend you guys read Danny Sugarman's books, I have a couple of books that he wrote about The Doors. They are really good. He knew Morrison and The Doors pretty well.

    Have to agree!
Gloria was a mid 60's song, and they just did it as a hoot. :)
