  • There was a illuminated girl dancing at a keyboard? First I hear of that - do tell in more detail please. Thanks for your review. That discofield set sounds whack.

And dont let the drones at cc.com or the street team (one in the same) define diehard fans - you can love the SG stuff the most and still be a "real" fan. Don't sweat it - you like what you like.

Funny! I think drowned out described it well considering his "condition" @ the time! From what I've noticed on videos there appears to be LED screens illuminated and different images flash/show to correspond to the songs. Like during watch out I've seen a white outline/silhouette of a lady dancing! No disco balls or anything like that though. There's a keyboardist named Wil Wesson who is animated and cool. He plays on EM songs as well.

  • Here's what's really crap: Scream, instead of just being released, drawn and quartered like it should have been, it's being dragged out into a slow death. It's like Cornell is cutting off his nose to spite his face, eating the nose, then mixing the screams of pain from the nose-severing ordeal with workaday hip-hop beats and pretending Dave Gilmour would have done the same thing.
Smokey Robinson constantly looks like he's trying to act natural after being accused of farting.

i once read that Dave Gilmour loves his nose though
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.
  • Does anyone have his last solo album? is it any good? I have Euphoria Morning and I think its darn good. And unlike a lotta people here i loved Audioslave and was gutted when they broke up...and they did that all coz of money :( I see a pattern emerging here i.e. greed...
    Crowd: "UUUUUKKK!"
Eddie: "I see you've acknowledged the Ukulele"
    Crowd: "UUUUUUUUKKKKK!!!"
Eddie: "Too bad this is a mandolin you uncultured bastards"

"Carry On" is a decent album, despite what most people here will tell you. Its nowhere near what he achieved with EM, but it has its good moments. It does sound rushed, but there are songs like Scar On The Sky, Safe & Sound, and Disappearing Act that are really well written and, for me, are the highlights.

Its probably the worst album he had done in his career up til that point (that honor definitely goes to Scream now). Its a mediocre collection of songs by Cornell standards, but I still like quite a few of the songs.

I think considering this album and EM sold really poorly (if you combine their U.S. sales its not even at gold level, much less standing alone) is what helped fuel the Scream disaster. Basically Cornell fronting a band = multi-platinum success. Cornell on his own so to speak...under the "Chris Cornell" flag = commercial disappointment. He seemed to be at a crossroads with his identity as a solo artist because of this, and so enter a producer who has had a string of Top 40 success. Its sad indeed, considering his past attitude towards bands or artists working with "hitmakers" just to achieve commercial success. Ironically, I wouldn't be surprised if Scream didn't sell as well as even Carry On did. On his own, his is so irrelevant. So irrelevant that even this bastardization by a top hip-hop/r&b producer doesn't matter to anyone...not even those being targeted by it.

Very well put; my sentiments exactly about Carry On and this whole Scream mess. It is a very sad state of affairs. I also blame some of this shit on his (what appears to be) money-grubbing wife....

Again, exactly what I feel. I think Carry On is a solid effort let down by lacklustre production, dodgy musician performances and Cornell's voice during that time period. The actual songwriting is pretty good.
  • I agree with that too. I consider Carry On a just a medicre album while EM as awesome. Longevity is how I judge. I still put in EM and enjoy. I never reach for Carry On. There are some okay songs but nothing that I love.

I agree Chris wanted easy money when he decided to do scream. And in his own words from an earlier time "music made for money deserves to fail". He sold his soul for this collaboration imo.

Drowned Out - thanks for the clarification. So he has a keyboardist with him now. But it sounds like its a guy.

Just for the record he had a keyboardist during EM.
  • Yes Natasha. She was great. I like what she added to EM. RIP.

If it sounded like I was dissin the keyboardist (or any keyboardist) that wasn't my intention. I was just trying to get clarification of the show drowned out reviewed. He mentioned and illuminated girl by the keyboards and I hadn't heard anything about that. Turns out it is dude named Wil Wesson. While I'm not a fan of the scream stuff - I'm sure he adds to the EM stuff on tour.

HI 2ni ! Btw did you get my message? The illuminated girl is a video projected image not a person! Wil is a guy and also sings.

So chris really did say that "music driven by money deserves to fail"? wow
I remember reading that somewhere. How many cd's do you think the new cd will sell?

I heard carry on sold 90,000 copies then after the AI cook thing came out many more sold.

Will the new cd sell more than carry on or not?

I'm betting no. Well, maybe slightly more but I dare say it even reaches gold status.

I mean, half the album has been released to iTunes. The release date keeps getting pushed back. Its another three months away now. Reviews from Spin, Rolling Stone, etc. are trashing it. Whatever buzz was created from the shock of this whole thing has started to die.

I don't understand this strategy at all, delaying it. Its like they're grasping to make people seriously take notice and give a damn...nothing has really worked so far.

People are seeing this for what it is. It doesn't really work as a hip hop/r&b album, and it sure as hell doesn't work as a Cornell album. So what now?

Has anybody here uploaded videos on youtube? If you are the uploader, can you block particular users or delete certain comments? I ask because I voiced my opinion on a few videos of new Cornell songs, and I got a couple of streetteam-esque replies and then some of my comments disappeared. When I tried to reply to the replies, my comments didn't show up. I'm not even pissed, just curious. Its pretty funny actually.

fair enough...I doubt any of us are actually listening to it.

Yeah, so I thought. What's funny is I've posted a bunch of criticism on the "Chris Cornell street team is recruiting" video and those have remained. But I got this reply from one video in my email last night, to a comment I made a couple of months ago, and now everything I've posted is gone. Hahaha!
