Danzig, lol. They're so awesome. A radio anouncer once said "Yeah, we're now gonna play a Danzig song that's about your mom and finding hell!" I got a kick out of it."Darth Vader would say 'Impressive'."

Amen Brother.
Also try- Doves- Think the best psychedelic sound of the 60's with a modern twist. Very strange how so many other UK bands have become well known over the past few years, yet they remain relatively unknown by most, even though they are the most consistant of the bunch. You men eat your dinner

Allow me to sing the praises of Clutch. They've been kicking my ass for the better part of thirteen years now, and the only people that seem to be into these guys are the same people who worship the ground Bam walks on. If you haven't heard Clutch yet, and can get past the fact that people might call you a Bam-loving poseur for listening now, Clutch is a supremely talented band. My suggestions: start with "Jam Room" or "Blast Tyrant", set mind to blown."We've done really well with teenage death songs." -EV0

Wilco
Iron & Wine"you don't have to strike everybody out. Strikeouts are boring, besides that, they're fascist. Make em' hit groundballs, they're more democratic."

I have to mention the Drive-By Truckers again. Completely incredible music.
Also:
fIREHOSE-Mike Watt project from late 80's early 90's.
PBM"We paced ourselves and we didn't rush through it and we tried to be as creative as our collective minds would let us be over some course of time instead of just trying to rush through a record"

PBMAll the world will be your enemy, Prince with a thousand enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you, digger, listener, runner, prince with the swift warning. Be cunning and full of tricks and your people shall never be destroyed.0 -
I saw mention of Arcade Fire, The Shins, and Iron and Wine. All great bands. I would like to add (unless I overlooked someone's post):
Neutral Milk Hotel
The Olivia Tremor Control0 -
tybird wrote:Listen to PBM folks, this band rocks...three guitarists....three lead singers...no bullshit...no dancers....no strippers posing as back-up singers...honest lyrics...and they will be in Europe next week for our over-seas friends to enjoy. Check their websites for dates and locations.
I just found out that they have a female bass player. My cousin put the DVD on the other night while we were playing cards (I didn't get to watch because we were in another room).
As soon as he's done, I gotta check that DVD out.

Alot of people have heard OF them but couldn't name a song i think both bands are wicked.0 -
tybird wrote:Her husband is one of the singers/guitarist in the band, Saturday night he was on the far left as we looked upon the stage.
That'd be Jason Isbell. Shonna (The Bass Player) is the cousin of a guy I work with here in San Diego. He hadn't heard the DBT until I loaned him Dirty South. He took a look at the liner notes and realized who she was.
Great to see the love for the DBT here. One of the best live bands out there, and a group that I think would be a killer opener for PJ."You're no help," he told the lime. This was unfair. It was only a lime; there was nothing special about it at all. It was doing the best it could.
