i know at least 90% of the bands mentioned in this thread...
some of them are rather well known, i'd say...
but you're right, there are so many bands that don't get the recognition they deserve... i wouldn't even know where to start...

We'll, you took my main recommendation in the DBT. Also check out Robert Randolph & The Family Band. And the Flaming Lips if you haven't heard any of their stuff, although they are somewhat well known.
"You're no help," he told the lime. This was unfair. It was only a lime; there was nothing special about it at all. It was doing the best it could.

Danzig, lol. They're so awesome. A radio anouncer once said "Yeah, we're now gonna play a Danzig song that's about your mom and finding hell!" I got a kick out of it.

    Amen Brother.

Also try- Doves- Think the best psychedelic sound of the 60's with a modern twist. Very strange how so many other UK bands have become well known over the past few years, yet they remain relatively unknown by most, even though they are the most consistant of the bunch.

Allow me to sing the praises of Clutch. They've been kicking my ass for the better part of thirteen years now, and the only people that seem to be into these guys are the same people who worship the ground Bam walks on. If you haven't heard Clutch yet, and can get past the fact that people might call you a Bam-loving poseur for listening now, Clutch is a supremely talented band. My suggestions: start with "Jam Room" or "Blast Tyrant", set mind to blown.

Listen to PBM folks, this band rocks...three guitarists....three lead singers...no bullshit...no dancers....no strippers posing as back-up singers...honest lyrics...and they will be in Europe next week for our over-seas friends to enjoy. Check their websites for dates and locations.

I just found out that they have a female bass player. My cousin put the DVD on the other night while we were playing cards (I didn't get to watch because we were in another room).

As soon as he's done, I gotta check that DVD out.

That'd be Jason Isbell. Shonna (The Bass Player) is the cousin of a guy I work with here in San Diego. He hadn't heard the DBT until I loaned him Dirty South. He took a look at the liner notes and realized who she was.

Great to see the love for the DBT here. One of the best live bands out there, and a group that I think would be a killer opener for PJ.
