I don't think RUSH gives a SHIT whether or not their in the RRHOF. They're professionals musicians and care only about their style of music and fans like myself that love their music. It's the same thing that they've never been on the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine they don't give a damn it's really only a title or a picture. Some bands find that gratifying I believe they don't.

I saw them month or two ago in Palm Beach, FL and Bristoe, VA and they packed the place 25+ thou and this after 30 years of touring. They were honestly the BEST RUSH shows I've seen and I've seen them all except one since g under p.

It's funny though that their first show ever in the US was you guessed it was in Cleve fucking land. Go figure.

Rush don't need no fricking Hall of Fame...in through THE CAMERA EYE one of my favorites. I just love Neil's drumming on this track, all the different paces and tempos.

Obviously, look at some of the horseshit bands that Canada has given us......Nickelback, Barenaked Ladies, Three Days Grace, RUSH, Sum 41, etc.

Point taken. But at the same time, we've also given you Neil Young, The Arcade Fire, Broken Social Scene, The New Pornographers, The Tragically Hip, Feist, Sarah Harmer, The Weakerthans, Sam Roberts Band, Kathleen Edwards, Wintersleep, Matt Mays & El Torpedo, Metric, Sloan, Hayden, and countless other brilliant artists.

    You're welcome.

They would be a disgrace to the rock and roll hall of fame. Absolutely dreadful band and those screeching woman vocals do not help at all.

coming from someone with a thirdgrade username and constantly bashes emo bands, i myself hate them but i dont give a shit enough to bash them.

and by the way geddy lee, whether you like his voice or not has one of the most, if not the greatest vocal range in rock, i saw them recently and how old is he now, like mid-late 50's and his voice still sounds incredible.

and this is apparently coming from someone who has such great taste in music.

They should definitely be in, if only for Neil Peart drumming ferocity. Those guys are all monster players and you hear them and you instantly know its them. Sure their not everybody's cup of tea but if Skynyrd is in Rush should be in. They both fill a very small niche in the rock scope.

Yeah but, to be fair, you're from Wisconsin...you're going to be more familiar with bands from The States.

I'm sure there are a lot of great bands in Canada that you've never heard of or taken the time to seek out.

Making a blanket statement like that is suspect.

Agreed. Just because you've never heard of the bands I mentioned, it doesn't mean they're not amazing artists. Bands like the Arcade Fire, Feist, and The New Pornographers are actually quite popular in the U.S. (as well as the rest of the world). Pick up any current music magazine and you're bound to see their names either on the cover or featured somewhere inside, and they've all been guests on Letterman, Leno, Conan, and SNL. Neil Young, Rush, and The Guess Who are just the tip of the iceberg. There's so much more to Canadian music than that, as many people on this forum will attest.

from the albums i have, i think their best work is counterparts and vapor trails. as for their older stuff id say grace under pressure is probably their best, moving pictures is very overrated imo, but my favorite rush song is natural science. the only albums im missing is their first 2,hemispheres and hold your fire.

My top 3 has to be g under p, Vaper Trails and 2112. Counterparts was the only tour I missed since g under p, they played the same night as my touring A League softball season started. I think S & A is at best subpar too much of the same pace and tempo throughout.

Top songs Red Sector A, The Camera Eye, La Villa Straitigo and Earthshine.

I remember once on the Hold Your Fire Tour when I knew the next song coming up was Red Sector A I told this girl next to me that's my favorite she said, "you don't know the words cause that's mine too". I said "Oh Yeah," I kicked out those lyrics word for word and she hung right with me. Later she had to admit it was my favorite song after I told her what the song was about. I got her number too and.......

I'm old nough that I saw Rush on the Moving Pictures and Signals tours. I love their early stuff and the Exit Stage left dvd was recorded at the Moving Pictures show I caught. Signals tour marked the launch of abbreviated versions of a lot of their epic songs, 2112 was part of a medley, Villa Strangieto as well. I'm not sure if they've played Xanadu live since.

My fave songs are Limelight, Trees and Xanadu. I think Trees has some of the most intelligent lyrics ever.

I saw Rush every tour from Moving Pictures thru Test For Echo. They were just here last Friday but their tickets have gotten to be too $$$$ for me, I am spoiled by PJ I think.

Oh and a random useless fact about me, when I was pregnant with my twins and we thought I was going to have boys I wanted to name them Eddie and Geddy soooo bad. I guess it was lucky I had girls,LOL, they are Clara and Eleanore. But my first son's middle name is Neil and my second son's middle name is Alexander, I really needed a Geddy!

Trees is great! My favorite Rush song is Resist. It has great lyrics. I think it may be my favorite song of all time, from anyone.
    I can learn to resist
    Anything but temptation
    I can learn to co-exist
    With anything but pain

    I can learn to compromise
    Anything but my desires
I can learn to get along
With all the things I cant explain

    I can learn to resist
    Anything but frustration
    I can learn to persist
    With anything but aiming low

I can learn to close my eyes
    To anything but injustice
I can learn to get along
With all the things I dont know

    You can surrender
    Without a prayer
    But never really pray
    Pray without surrender

    You can fight
    Without ever winning
    But never ever win
    Without a fight

At the Virginia show I didn't have a ticket, I walked up and saw a guy holding one ticket. I asked how much he said face value $100. I said I only wanted lawn seats for $30 we went back and forth till we settled on $75. I knew it's much tougher to sell off a single ticket.

When I finally found the seats I found out why he wanted to keep the price high. I was dead center on the aisle about 30 rows back, awesome. Just before the show started that same guy sat right next to me, I offered him many beers and he accepted. We had a great time and come to find out he's a huge fan of my friend's band Michael Franti and Spearhead.

Out of the many shows since g under p tour that one a month or so ago was the best just ahead of the show in W. Palm Beach, FL only their 3rd of the S & A Tour. BTW the ticket prices have gone up quite a bit all over but every now and then one can catch a deal.

    My favorite RUSH song...

    Red Sector A lyrics

All that we can do is just survive
All that we can do to help ourselves is stay alive

    Ragged lines of ragged grey
    Skeletons, they shuffle away
    Shouting guards and smoking guns
Will cut down the unlucky ones

I clutch the wire fence until my fingers bleed
A wound that will not heal
    A heart that cannot feel
Hoping that the horror will recede
Hoping that tomorrow we'll all be freed

    Sickness to insanity
    Prayer to profanity
Days and weeks and months go by
    Don't feel the hunger
    Too weak to cry

I hear the sound of gunfire at the prison gate
    Are the liberators here?
Do I hope or do I fear?
For my father and my brother, it's too late
But I must help my mother stand up straight

Are we the last ones left alive?
Are we the only human beings to survive?

Loved Rush in the 80s....then PJ came along and stole my heart.

Still have a soft spot for their ealier stuff like The Trees and Losing It is my favorite. And about Canadian bands.......
Lover Boy anyone??? :p. ((I think they are from there).

    LOSING IT

The dancer slows her frantic pace
    In pain and desperation,
Her aching limbs and downcast face
    Aglow with perspiration

Stiff as wire, her lungs on fire,
    With just the briefest pause
    The flooding through her memory,
    The echoes of old applause.

    She limps across the floor
    And closes her bedroom door...

The writer stare with glassy eyes
    Defies the empty page
His beard is white, his face is lined

And streaked with tears of rage.

Thirty years ago, how the words would flow
    With passion and precision,
But now his mind is dark and dulled
    By sickness and indecision

And he stares out the kitchen door
Where the sun will rise no more...

Some are born to move the world
    To live their fantasies
But most of us just dream about
The things we'd like to be
Sadder still to watch it die
Than never to have known it
For you, the blind who once could see
    The bell tolls for thee...
So I'll just lie down and wait for the dream
Where I'm not ugly and you're lookin' at me
