Crowded House
The Sleepy Jackson good Perth band
The Panics another good Perth band
Paul Kelly
Mexico City a Brissy band (sound like wilco)
Tim Rogers and the Temperance Union

in my unbiased opinion i'd say the drones are a superioor quality australian band. they just kick my head in every time i see them live.

so...i saw the vasco era kick arse live last night again. if youve not seen them aussies, do yourself the favour. though they may not be to everybody's taste, i'm totally getting my vasco love on.


oh and before i forget....mia dyson people.

mia dyson is cool - love her vocals.. vasco era are a good band I agree. While not knowing all their songs.. JJJ plays a good variety of their stuff there was one song I really liked that they played a few months back

i love mia's vox too. mainly cause i can sing with her. though of course she is fab.


vasco's honey bee is a beast live. and theyre just mad live.
ive seen them a few times on this latest tour with the fumes and its been such a pleasure.

The Living End are incredible live. Epecially when they belt out their early tunes Prisoner of Society, All Torn Down etc.

Hunters(Throw your arms around me alone never mind the rest)
The Angels
AC/DC
Oils
Diesel(yes I like him)

Newer Stuff

I said "Newer stuff" should I put them in with the old schoolers should I

As for the Hunters I could name a dozen songs at least. I was just pointing out that they were the original writers of that song for our international jammers

Nick Cave is a god of Australian and world music... Nick Cave is head and shoulders above them all in Aussie music. I recommend buying lyre of orpheus, muder ballads, no more shall we part... It's all good.. Grinderman are amazing also. Listen to No pussy blues... crazy stuff. Wouls say the Neil Young or Dylan of Aussie music.

Yeah, the vasco era are pretty good live, but all of the studio stuff that i've heard doesn't seem to capture them very well.
