Thanks,
Seriously, I listened to the 2nd album first and it's my favourite...
They're all pretty good tho... And not too expensive...

Thanks,
I purchased all three CDs and really like the 2nd and 3rd albums. I actually don't really like the first one. It's like they discovered the Electric Guitar inbetween the 1st and 2nd albums. It's not so much that it is a bad album, but it only has one speed, and tends to drone on.
So I haven't read through the entire thread so I don't know if it's been mentioned, but anyone else notice the singer's voice is very similar to EV's voice. There are certain songs that could be posted here and 90% of the folks around here would think it's Pearl Jam or EV solo. (mabey a good way to turn more poeple on to this band?)
I'm going to see them this Friday, can someone tell me how long their set usually goes.

Well the first album is great to me, as it's the first one I got into. Something doesn't need to be loud to be great...and that is quite evident on that album. I think it has more than one gear. It has subtle depth like a lot of their work, but it takes a while to find it.
As for the singer sounding like Eddie...I don't hear it. At all. They sound nothing alike that I can hear. What songs do you think people wouldn't be able to tell apart from Eddie?~AKA Dave-of-the-dead~

I love the first album. I don't think it drones on at all.
I love Caliber, Sore, Avalanche...
And I can't hear Eddie in the singers voice....am I missing something?A human being that was given to fly.

i can see what you mean about the first album... i actually love it, until just after Orca, and then i don't care much for the last few songs.... Sometimes i skip Butterfly too...
Like urbanhippe said though, love Sore, Avalanche, Caliber, Snowstorm... and of course.... ORCA!!
i'm so jealous that you're going to the Mod Club show... you're going to love it!!! when i saw them in Hamilton a few weeks ago, they played for close to two hours....~~*~~ ...i surfaced and all of my being was enlightend... ~~*~~0 -

Thanks,
I also heard the 2nd album first.... and it ROCKS!
The third album is beautiful as well... i think it really showcases their musical abilities the best... especially the drums and vocals...
The first album is more acousticy, but has a few classics on it, as mentioned previously....~~*~~ ...i surfaced and all of my being was enlightend... ~~*~~0 -

Something i've noticed about Welcome To The Night Sky is how good the drumming is! I notice it because it's unusual, and because they have unusual song structures, but I like that.~AKA Dave-of-the-dead~

Sorry to hear you can't make the Mod Club show on Friday. Truth be told, it's thanks to you and the constant appearance of this thread at the top of the page that sparked my interest in checking out Wintersleep. So a big "THANK YOU" civ_eng_girl for sharing your enthusiasm for this band.

hahah... mom wouldn't be able to stand it for a second! she's a jazz fan, and hates noisy guitars.... although it would be quite a youthfull way to celebrate turning 65 and officially becoming a senior citizen!~~*~~ ...i surfaced and all of my being was enlightend... ~~*~~0 -
So I just listened to the new record again this morning, and I've finally made up my mind. Welcome to the Night Sky is by far the best album of 2007. For a while there it was a toss-up between this one and the new Cuff the Duke record, but Wintersleep is now firmly in the top spot. I'm still trying to come up with the rest of my top 10. There are just way too many candidates this year."I try my best to chug, stomp, weep, whisper, moan, wheeze, scat, blurt, rage, whine, and seduce. With my voice I can sound like a girl, the boogieman, a Theremin, a cherry bomb, a clown, a doctor, a murderer. I can be tribal. Ironic. Or disturbed. My voice is really my instrument."
