The places in Millenium Park suck. And all of the real good restaurants are atleast 5 blocks north of there. I find that area of dining very unappealing. There are places to eat yes, but good ones????Chicago 6/29/98 - Nashville 8/17/00 - Cleveland 4/25/03- Chicago 6/18/03

By the Way I think Italian Village is OVER-RATED. It is cheap though.
My bad for not having anyone show me around the town.

Can I suggest we take it easy on the out of towners? The point of this post is to help them out.Chicago 6/29/98 - Nashville 8/17/00 - Cleveland 4/25/03- Chicago 6/18/03

Jesus Christ-You can't bust any balls on this site anymore. It seems like a whole different fan now-a-days. If you say something like Bennigans is a good place to eat in Chicago your gonna a little ripage my friend. And I was gentle on my rip. Thank God we don't have a Chicago Lou. Don't be so soft your probably a generation y/z'er0 -
Never have I imagined that people would be excited or even recommend White Castle. I like it myself, but it's mostly a joke around here. I guess it just goes to show how people from different areas appreciate different things.
Gotta love them sliders!Midwest. Indy/Lafayette.0 -

Actually, the one on Clark & Ontario is pretty impressive looking...I haven't eaten at a McD's in a few years, but asthetically it is pretty cool.
THE GANGSTER TOUR is a pretty cool tour that picks up at that McDonalds and will take you to parts of Chicago you probably wouldn't see otherwise. You get some great history of Chicago while actors (gangsters) give you a tour on a black school bus.
THE ARCHITECTURAL TOUR is the best tour in Chicago hands down...everyone (locals too) should do this if they haven't yet!!!!!0 -

New type of fan? Son, I think you made a false statement there. My bad for not tripping over all the Bennigan's we have here in central illinois and not knowing it was a "chain"...
Also, learn the proper use of the word "your"....0 -
I'm wondering what places are fairly close to the Auditorium Theatre. Does anyone know now which places are within a close proximity?0

I really don't have a reccommendation for right around the theatre. i Would just cab-it to one of the places listed in this thread (but not Bennigan's).Chicago 6/29/98 - Nashville 8/17/00 - Cleveland 4/25/03- Chicago 6/18/03

Yeah son, yeah son, what are you Gangsta now? Your Not Gangsta, you’re not Erik B & Rakim, your not even part of Tribe Called Quest. I'm done go ahead rip on my English and we will call it a truce. Deal?0 -
I love playing tour guide, so I will give a few opinions.
First to Second the above poster, if you are not from here, or are and haven't been. The Chicago Architecture Tour by boat, is top notch. That usually would not be my type of thing, but it is awesome, anyone in from out of town I have do this and not a one has been disappointed.
For the people fighting about Chicago Oven Grinders, it is pretty darn good, you should give it a second chance, and it is at least true Chicago, no stupid Bennigan's:)...
For steak---Gibson's is the nice typical big city steakhouse, but they do burn the outside of the steak, if you like that you will love it, if not, try another one. Wildfire, is a very nice well priced steakhouse. Joe's Stone Crab (and Prime Meats, here in Chicago), is also awesome. Nine is another nice steak/seafood place with wonderful service.
Mexican---Frontera Grill and Topolobampo, and it will impress your lady friends with Rick Bayless as the celebrity chef, the food is awesome and authentic.
For those coming in form out of town venture up to the Wrigley area if you are a baseball fan you get to see a lot of bars w/in a very short distance of each other, you can't go wrong.
Enjoy the city!!!

The "son" is as sarcastic as it gets for assuming I am a Gen Y'er. Truce indeed...0 -

I think I had the best meal of my life at Topolobampo. I'm usually too cheap for places like this but we went there as a special celebration and every single thing was just totally perfect, I felt like I was watching Top Chef but actually getting to eat everything! Highly highly recommended if you're flush with cash, although it was a several hour meal for us, not sure if you could fit this in with EV the same night. But if you could, you probably couldn't ever have a more perfect evening!0
