Isn't Bennigan's a franchise? Heck they have one at the mall that's a couple blocks from my house... I live in IOWA!!! It's an ok place but not a place I would take someone visiting from out of town... List some local favorites!!!
Can't wait to eat me some deep dish pizza next week! om nom nom nom0 -

C'mon now!.......If you were two blocks from Bennigans, you were two blocks from about 50 other places to eat and drink as well!0 -

What can I say? I was a loner, and once I find someplace I feel comfortable with going by myself...it was a keeper0 -
We were in Chicago for Lollapalooza a few weeks back.
The Chicago Chop House was pretty good.....I was shocked at the huge scoop of butter they give you with the bread.
Miller's Pub, next to the Palmer House Hilton was yummy chicken and had a good atmosphere.
The Weber Grill was great....best BBQ hamburger ever!
We didn't have much time to explore, but we got lucky in choosing some good eats!0 -

I ate their once and thought it was quite bad to be honest with you. I don't understand their need to stuff 10 lbs of green peppers in front of you, and I don't think I am asking much to have the mushrooms at least chopped in half. We went right in without a wait on a saturday night with a crowd of 6, and there was a reason there was no wait. This place lives on reputation, not on food quality. Clever name, clever location, average food. There's Pearl Jam, The Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, Robert Johnson......and then everybody else.0 -
So I'm from Chicago and for anyone looking for a special place to go, this is my favorite restaurant in the city by far:
http://www.chicagoreader.com/cgi-bin/rrr/details.cgi?numb=1683
Lula Cafe. I try to go there whenever I visit home. A little off the beaten path but a straight shot on the blue line, get off at Logan Square (my old hood) and you'll be there. Everything they do is good - brunch, cocktails, lunch and dinner. It's not dirt cheap but it is an amazing bargain. And notice the guy who wrote that review - another Chicago to NYC deserter, although he's a little more famous than me.
Also off the blue line (Damen/North/Milwaukee stop in Wicker Park, the heart of Chicago hipsterland) is the cheap & delish Irazu:

I also like to have a beer at the Pontiac Cafe, nice outdoor space:

And finally I can't forget the Handlebar, healthy, mostly veg, and with a great patio:

Enjoy! Now I want to go see Eddie and eat myself silly.0 -
