Yep, it starts with an H, but I'm sure you got it through PM's.

NYbenben, dude call her back. If the guy won't let you talk to her keep on it. That's how my gf got us tix yesterday. She wouldn't give up until she got tix. I mean you were next in line so you deserve to get in there. I wouldn't wait for her to call you, because I'm sure there are hundreds of people calling.

Yea this thread does suck with all the bitching. Anyone wanna start a "positive vibes only" Beacon thread? ; )

in a few short days this thread is currently the 10'th most viewed thread on the message pit. Its up there with pics where ed looks hot, play the south, columbus fan gone missing etc.

I'm blown away by what I'm reading on this thread. This is not a Pearl Jam event. That is why no Ten Club involvement. This is an annual RobinHood charity event that happens to have gotten our favorite group to donate its time and money to play. Robin Hood is dictating the prices (same as in the past). Many people have looked into the finances on how to scope these events to make them the most profitable. That is the point. Trying to make this about hypocrisy is simply just looking for something to bitch at. By the way, if you think $250/350/500 donations are for targeting only the wealthy, I think it is time to think about your personal charitable donations. That is an amount average people should be donating. Sorry, just my opinion. Real charity is more than $2 for some kids baseball team uniforms. Now you may have already chosen your group of organizations, or simply waiting to donate to John McCain, but please don't call this band hypocritical for helping raise significant dollars to one of my city's most important organizations aimed at assisting the less fortunate. I was going to donate to them anyway, I just got a nice treat for doing so.

Now, that said. I am with everyone that is pumped for this event. Although I don't think think the band owes me anything. Even if they only play 5 songs and I only get 2 drinks, all will be good. Yeah for Robin Hood!

Oh and for those still waiting for callbacks. Hang in there, they are working really diligently in making this happen.

I don't think anyone is taking issue with you having your opinion and it being different than many of the others, mine included. I think many of us don't understand where you are coming from because this simply doesn't feel like the band is selling out to the rich or not staying consistent with their past stances. I can say I have pondered your posts, I like differing opinions for just that reason, but I don't agree and I don't understand why you keep making it over and over again. Let's agree to disagree.

Btw, I think Janet Jackson is selling tickets at over $200 just get in the door at Madison Square Garden. Now that, I think we can all agree, is absurd.

Enjoy the weekend. I'm done with this thread.

Janet Jackson doesnt have prolonged speeches about the evils of wealth.

and now have you read anything about the Robin Hood Foundation
According to Fortune Magazine, "Robin Hood was a pioneer in what is now called venture philanthropy, or charity that embraces free-market forces
Now i believe, Pearl Jam are using free market forces here, and using them for good!

    Case closed!

It is a $250.00 Concert ticket... that automatically means that a large percentage of their audience cant even consider going... and the odds are they'll do something to make it a "special" show.. meaning that Pearl Jam did something specifically for their wealthiest fans.... .

it's not a show for their 'wealthiest fans' or their fans even, they agreed to participate in a benefit performance. This organization, I believe they helped people/families affected by 9/11 and they help poor kids! Kids! How can you argue with that, seriously? Do you even live in NY? If you don't, or you can't go to the show any way, then what's the problem? Would you be mad if they had 'affordable' tickets (Ie: If they were $100 per ticket?)

follow me here - if PJ could play a show for a charity that gave away 100% of the proceeds and the tickets cost $1,000 and the venue held 2,000 people, how much would that raise for the charity?
    answer - $2,000,000.

now if they played the same venue for the same charity and the tix cost only $10, how much would that raise for the charity?
    answer - $20,000.

great price for the fans, right?
but how does that help the charity?

who cares if only the rich can afford this show? in my mind, the richer the better for the charity.

wake up skells!!! it is not about you!!!

i talked to lucy at 10:45 Wednesday morning. I had a charge pending on my CC on Thursday, around 5:00. The charge was officaily made on Saturday night.

However, my call seemed to be made before the madness began, so i may not be a good example.
