people tend to forget that just cause some of us may be members of the 10c, regardless of how long we have been loyal fans - neither the tenclub, its employees nor the members of pearl jam itself owe us anything. people have this false notion that since we are in the 10c we are entitled to something...

...this is a benefit show... run by the robin hood org... since pj isnt handling the ticket sales for this one, at such a small locale they didnt need to advertise it... can you imagine scalpers infringing on this one?... scalping tkts for a benefit show... who does that benefit besides the scalpers pockets??? surely not the intended recipients of this aid...

One would think that a 'fundraiser' would be interested in raising money, no?

What better place to advertise a PJ show than a PJ.com message board?

It's almost too simple... scalper-- schmalper. Don't blame them for this one.

dude. I found out about this show 30 minutes ago!

Is an RSS feed -THAT- hard?

Is that -TOO- much to ask???

Gee--- PJ is playing a benefit show-- how about a 'proper' notification to PAYING fan club members?

Sorry but I'm NOT out of line on this one. I will argue that endlessly.

not particularly...but if the 10c didnt feel the need to put out a public service announcement about it, i guess they had good reason to...

even though its probobly out of their hands im sure they will get their brunt of the bitching about not telling people...

this band has been so good to us... i think a little too good... well too good for most of what half of us deserve...so when they don't meet expectations people flip out about how they are entitled to all this shit...they have their reasons for not announcing it

when PJ decided to play a super-special show with Robert Plant and the Strange Sensation at the Chicago HOB for 1 THOUSAND dollars a ticket, they advertised it. They even gave Chicago 10C members an opportunity to enter a lottery for super discounted tickets. I believe it was 80 bucks instead of a grand. Anyway...

Inconsistency is annoying and GOD FORBID if you don't check in here every day... sucking at the message pit teet, etc.

I have 10C's RSS feed set up on my home page and they haven't updated it in 2 months. THIS SHOW IS A PEARL JAM SHOW AND IT SHOULD HAVE COME ACROSS THE RSS FEED!

Period. I'm right, you're wrong. Get over it.

'whatever" says the person pissing and moaning...

I don't visit this place daily and ONCE AGAIN, I am penalized. I had no idea of this show and given the posts in this thread, it looks like the USUAL clusterFUCK... PJ really needs to hire some professionals.

I love that that's you're 420th post - but if you call that pissing and moaning - you definitely missed some of the threads I've read!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was just wondering, that's all. And I'll be glad to have donated my $100 even if I don't get a ticket:)

well to be completely honest, im not the one with the panties all up in a bunch...

    literally LOL.

Is your card in your wallet? Do they even still give out cards? This is utterly preposterous.

Please enlighten me as to where in the 10Club guidelines it says that every 'card carrying member' has to be 'notified'
This isn't just a "PJ" concert.

It's a charity benefit being organized entirely by a charity organization, not the band, not 10 Club, not selling tickets via Ticket Master or Live Nation or anything of that nature.

I don't know which part of that is not clear to you?

    I couldn't swing $350 for a show and I couldn't go on a Tuesday even if I had it! D'oh!

but congrats to those who got in, have a great time
and I look forward to the pics/vids and setlist post!!!

    you're feeling arguementative... admit it.

Yes, they give out cards. and YES!!!!!!!!!!!!! CONGRATS TO ALL THAT COULD GO!!!!

See you at Roo PJ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I feel that a Pearl Jam show should be advertised on a Pearl Jam RSS feed. I don't care about 10C tickets-- if 10C doesn't sell them, they should still be announced through the pearljam.com website.

Maybe that's what you're having trouble with? Even though 10C doesn't have anything to do with ticket sales, someone should still announce the show on the pearljam.com website. It's like Public Relations 101. You will OBVIOUSLY sell more tickets by direct advertising THROUGH YOUR FAN BASE! DDDUUUHHH!!!

actually--lol-- maybe PJ has grown tired of the same faces at their shows and therefore decided NOT to advertise throught their website?

no, I am actually feeling fantastic.

Oh I didn't know they give out cards? I don't mean to make fun but do you have it in your wallet

What I think you are missing the point of is that the show is for charity. Not to 'sell tickets' like a usual concert. It's a special occasion. Look I get what you are saying and they could have raised a lot of money by 'advertising' to the fan base
    but
I don't think that's the purpose here and hence forth that's why it's not being super publicized

    does that make sense?

  • Hey everyone,
I was fortunate enough for a friend to e-mail me about this last night. I was not aware of the ticket availability for this show. I called 9am this morning and left a message. I JUST WOULD LIKE TO GIVE EVERYONE A LITTLE BIT OF ADVICE IF YOU DON'T MIND. I AM BEING POSITIVE ABOUT GETTING TICKETS SOMEHOW. HERE IT IS " IF IT IS MENT TO BE, IT WILL BE" need I say anymore. Best Of Luck Everyone!!!!

I don't carry it in my wallet but your address on the flyer is your 'card'-- don't be an ass...

the principle remains. http://www.pearljam.com is TOTALLY different than http://www.messagearmpitpearljam.com. If I visit the main website, I should BAMMM--- see the show.

explain the Katrina Benefit at Chicago HOB. It was for charity... it was a grand a ticket and it was advertised online. 10C gave out 80 dollar tickets to people with a 60blah-blah-blah zipcode. Robert Plant blows PJ away and it was still advertised at pearljam.com.

Why advertise one and not the other?

--and I'm out. I've stated my arguement and you're all wrong, I'm right. This show should've been advertised on

    www.pearljam.com but it wasn't.

they sold their tickets either way so it doesn't matter to them...

Name calling is uncalled for. I don't have a member ship so I don't know
This show is not being organized through nor are tickets being sold through the 10 Club. That is the difference. It's for this particular charity and being run through same charity

Are you even going to the show? Are you in or can you get to NY? If you are going you should rejoice and if you can't go, then what difference does it make if they advertise it or not?

that was my point from the beginning---

    I DON"T CARE THAT 10C ISN"T SELLING TICKETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

http://www.pearljam.com SHOULD HAVE LISTED THIS SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    THEY DIDN"T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    That's my only beef. :)

I can get to NY in a heartbeat as my bro is a pilot. I'm not trying for tickets--I enjoy my PJ stress-free. RRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My point from the beginning was that PJ should have announced this show on their website!

The fact that NOT A SINGLE PERSON agrees with me is a little concerning...

    of course there isn't...

still, though... if you were in a band, wouldn't you announce your shows on your own personal dot com?

if one person would agree with me, I would go to bed. :)

that's your only point, that it wasn't on the website?? What about saying you are 'entitled' to know? :D
Ok well I felt like this, since it was being run by this Robin HOod organization and not a traditional concert or something being offered through the 10 Club, that's why it's not being posted and to me, that makes sense,
    However,
I did a Google search for "Pearl Jam" and now the word must be out because the 3rd result is this article
    http://www.nme.com/news/pearl-jam/36955

So now that is kind of like, huh?
if it's being posted online like that,
ok fine, go to bed, I see what you are saying. But I disagree that you are "entitled" to know b/c you have your 10 Club membership and I disagree with that wholeheartedly.

Isn't NME a British magazine? I see where it says 'by our NY staff" at the bottom of it

ok, I get it. Check here every day of my life AND do a google search of Pearl Jam shows.

entitled is a strong word... one that shouldn't be thrown around.

Should Pearl Jam list their shows on their own personal website...

    I guess not.

Live and learn and rock and roll!

I didn't say that, I'm pointing out to you that I sort of see what you are saying b/c if the story makes #3 in a Google search result but it's not posted on their own site, that is a little unusual.
But I think they must have a reason why they didn't adverstise it

and I agree about the word entitled. It was the exact word that you used.
You said you were entitled to know b/c you were a card-carrying member of the 10 Club.

So, how was this show announced? if it wasn't on the Pearl Jam fan-club site?

I think that this show should've been advertised on the fan-club site. What harm would that have been?
