Kaiser Cheifs " fucked off" about bruce booking this Arena.
    http://www.nme.com/news/kaiser-chiefs/68792

    2013ScreenShotTwitter190213.jpg

Ricky Wilson of Kaiser Chiefs has written that he is "really fucked off" after his band were replaced as the opening act the the new Leeds Arena by Bruce Springsteen.

The frontman posted his reaction to the news that Springsteen and his E Street Band will be playing the very first gig at the soon-to-be-opened venue in Yorkshire, claiming that he had understood that Kaiser Chiefs would be the first band to play there. The Bruce Springsteen gig is scheduled to take place on July 24 while Kaiser Chiefs will play the same venue in September.

In a message which has since been deleted from his Twitter page, Wilson wrote: "Really f**cked off with @leeds_arena. They asked us to open the thing then put Elton on the week before and now Bruce." See above for a screengrab of the tweet, taken shortly before it was removed.

In December 2012, Kaiser Chiefs drummer and songwriter Nick Hodgson announced that he was leaving the band after 15 years to focus on his Chewing Gum record label. A statement from the band at the time read: "We can confirm that Nick has decided not to be in the band any more and that our show at Reading Festival in August was his last as a member of Kaiser Chiefs."

Bruce Springsteen's Leeds gig will be part of his 2013 Wrecking Ball tour, a series of shows in the UK and Ireland which will also see the singer performing at London's Wembley Stadium as well as dates in Glasgow, Cork, Coventry, Limerick and Belfast. Tickets for the gig will go on sale at 9am on Friday (February 22) priced £65. To check the availability of Bruce Springsteen tickets and get all the latest listings, go to NME.COM/TICKETS now, or call 0871 230 1094.

The new Leeds Arena, now due to open with a performance by Bruce Springsteen on July 24, has been accused of neglecting two of the city’s most popular independent record stores.

Both Jumbo Records and Crash Records were allocated a percentage of tickets to sell for the Kaiser Chiefs concert, scheduled for 13 September, but none for the Bruce Springsteen gig.

Click this link hereThis morning (February 20), a Facebook group named "Support Jumbo and Crash Records" was set up by Leeds music promoter and festival organiser Ash Kollakowski, and within two hours 4,500 people had joined. Kollakowski explained why he set the group up: "(Leeds Arena) say they do support the shops and they want to support Leeds but by not giving them their tickets for Bruce Springsteen… they’re taking money from Jumbo and Crash and they’re influencing people that are just beginning to go to concerts to getting their tickets online rather than going into a shop."

Since the group was created, local music fans have been commenting on the news via social media. Michael Stead expressed his support for the Facebook group by posting “Fully behind this, I've ALWAYS bought my gig tickets from Crash and Jumbo and that's not gonna change! Won't be going to anything at the Arena unless they rethink this ridiculous decision.” Over on Twitter, Sean Stanley (@SchooleofAbuse) wrote “The decision by Leeds Arena not to sell tickets through the independent records shops is embarrassing. Really disappointed by it.”

The manager of Crash Records, Ian De-Whytell was grateful for the support being shown for the record shops and remains hopeful that the Arena’s management will stay true to their commitment to working with the local record stores. "We are actively talking to the management at Leeds Arena to make sure that wherever it’s appropriate, we get allocations… We’ve not got allocations for the Bruce Springsteen event, we’re still not fully sure why that is."

Tony Watson of SMG Europe, the Arena’s management company was reluctant to comment on the matter. “We’ve no comment,” he said, but added, “You guys at NME will be fully aware we’re an arena running on exactly the same model as any other arena in the world.”

The news that Jumbo and Crash Records did not receive a ticket allocation for The Boss’ July concert comes hot on the heels of Ricky Wilson tweeting that he was “fucked off” with the Arena, now that Leeds band Kaiser Chiefs’ concert is no longer the first to be held at the arena, as originally announced, suggesting that the venue may not be so committed to the local music scene after all. Kollakowski commented: “If what Ricky Wilson said is true… that is indicative of some massive problems (for the arena) around the corner. I feel sorry for Ricky, but, being a promoter, Bruce Springsteen? If you’re offered Bruce Springsteen, you’re not gonna turn it down.”

Tonight's show is the first in the Australian leg of the Wrecking Ball world tour, which has already earned universal acclaim as ''the greatest live act in the world.''

    Bruce still World Premiering

    http://www.nj.com/springsteen/index.ssf ... econd.html

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band played their second show in Brisbane, Australia on Saturday and Bruce started with a world peremiere.
"High Hopes" featured in the 1996 documentary "Blood Brothers" kicked off the 23-song, three-hour-and-seven minute show. "High Hopes" was released on a promotional EP that year. It's a cover song (written by Tim Scott) and was recorded by Bruce during the "Greatest Hits" sessions in 1995.

It was soundchecked before Thursday's show and also on that evening's set list, but not played,

"We Take Care of Our Own" was not played, that's a first for this tour. "The Promised Land" was played in the second slot at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre.

Here's video of Bruce playing "High Hopes" to open the show. Nice job Everett Bradley and Tom Morello:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... 7ksWwv3GtQ

Crowd surfing is back, Bruce surfed during "Out in the Street."

How bout this this nice four-pack: "Incident on 57th Street," "The River," "Atlantic City," and "Open All Night." Other highlights were "Racing in the Street" and a solo acoustic "Blinded by the Light" to kick off the encores.

    Set list:

Show began at 7:46 p.m. local time (14 hours ahead of New Jersey, ticket time was 7 p.m.)

    1. High Hopes (world premiere)
    2. The Promised Land
    3. Wrecking Ball
    4. Death To My Hometown
    5. Out In The Street
