All Chicago frames are great, I got mine today and I can't decide should I go with white or dark gray mat, they all look nice.
Tough but sweet decision after seeing all this frames.
thanks everyone

Its the black from the print.I was originally going to go with just the white matte over the black border but couldn't match it up perfectly .It was hard to find a good white matte. You don't realize how many different whites there are .

well done...i'm not a fan of coloured matts as it is difficult to match the colours of a poster typically, however, at least from the pics posted, it looks as though they compliment the poster nicely. Love the white matt with black frame...again well done.

That Hartford job is killer! I must say that this print just seems to lend itself to some incredible frame jobs that make the print stand out even more than it does on its own.
If/when I get it, I'm coming to you for instructions.

I got one at the mystery poster sale and I think I'm going to give it to my brother for his birthday... too violent for me =P. But I think he'll appreciate it, haha. I want to do a thin orange mat with a wider white one and a brown frame. The only problem I have is matching the colours to the ones in the poster online on americanframe.com! How successful has picking matching mat and frame colours online been for you guys?
Is the paper that the posters are rolled in from the 10c acid free.......
And also has anyone framed the Batman with non-reflective UV glass.......if so does it dull the colours at all or change the glitter effect of the blue paint..?
was told not to even waste my money on UV non reflective glass....studies suggest and in cases prove that the reduction in fading is hardly visible from that caused by normal glass....Fading cannot be stopped.

Ive got one poster with UV non reflective glass.......which I move around anyway....
But I must admit its cool and ppl have also commented about u cant even see the glass..........its like its not even under glass.... I kinda like that effect..but when I was getting the newcastle ccfa poster framed the UV non-reflective glass didnt suit the poster, made it kinda dull....
Looked heaps better with normal glass seemed more alive...
If that makes sense....

I think mine's framed with non-reflective UV glass, but I'd have to check my receipt (and I won't be home for another week or so...). I believe I noticed the glitter effect lessening? But at the same time, it's hard to say unless you have two hard copies side by side, one framed and one not, for comparison.
Edit: For anyone who's in Canada and has ordered from American Frame, how in the world was it worth it for you?! I'm trying to frame my brother's PJ poster, and it was $100 for double matting and a very simple frame and the UV reducing glass-type thing, and backing. I also ordered 3 smaller foot by foot frames for my artwork, which came up to $120. So my order was $220, but I just got the shipping quote! To the States, it was estimated to be $20, but to Toronto, it's over $100! I might as well get the poster framed at Michael's during a half off sale! Does anyone know whether the shipping can be lessened if I change some of the options around?

Haha, I know. Nobody likes it. Like I said, I got it at the mystery poster sale. You know what, though? In real life, it looks much, much better than it does on the expressobeans photo! The belt is brown, the colours brighter, the orange a nicer shade... it's really not an ugly poster. Especially for a guy. My brother already has scary-looking band posters in his room.

If that makes sense....
You can get UV filtered glass that's not non-reflective, that's what I use. I like the sharpness that clear glass gives. The way I figure it, the glass filters 99% of UV compared to 45% for regular glass. That has to be good. I've seen the damage done to old posters just stuck up on my walls not in full sun and I'd rather be safe than sorry. Anyone who suggests otherwise is a cheapskate Although I wouldn't mind seeing these "studies" which prove the fading isn't affected. If it's true I could save myself some money. Fading can't be stopped but you can do your best to slow it down. It all depends how long you expect the poster to be useful for. Maybe over 5 years it wouldn't make a difference, so maybe that doesn't matter to you...

I started a separate thread for this the other day because I forgot about this thread. I also need to get some pics up of the Fargo poster that I had framed as a X-mas present for my brother in law.

The guys at Michael's were trying to convince me to dry mount my posters, which I did NOT do. Have any of you ever done this?
i'm no expert, but I understand that professional frames say you do not need to do this. i'd be interested as well in a more "technical" explaination as to why not.
