i have a backlog of posters to be framed, and i hope i'm not the first person to bitch about this, but..........is it me, or does it cost a shit load of dough just to get this stuff framed in a simple, yet respectful way?

not here in the UK, hearing people paying 300 a frame is mental

depends on how you want to get it done. here at sam flax in orlando, i took in a print - hess 94 PJ print (2 mats, wood frame) - quoted at $260-310. that price would've been way more than i've ever spent on one piece. i passed at the moment. i know a great place in ohio that i usually take to frame all my stuff (had about 9 pieces in for 1000 the last time i went and thats with each one having double or triple mat), but its tough to go back since i have to cover shipping costs if i want the pieces with me in florida.
and then sam flax told me of another PJ fan that brought in 18 pieces or so recently (of different gig posters) and had them framed for about $600-700 (most no mats and a metal frames). am curious, is that fan on this message board? would love to see how your pieces turned out if you are.

i usually pay about $75-$100 if i do a custom cut frame... alot of times i get lazy and just buy a standard frame size and a simple black matte and do the cutting myself... that only works though if the proportions of the poster are atleast somewhat similar to the standard frame... so thats the main problem... these posters artists NEVER make a poster in a standard size... and the custom frames are what add up... still though if people would just let the art speak for itself and get plain black frames without all the fancy matting they would save alot of $
Very nicely done! What kind of glass do you have in the frame? Is it the normal kind, or the much more expensive museum quality glass? The image pops out of yours. I'm not sure if it's the lighting in the room, the flash on the camera, or the glass, or a combination...

it will be very cheap. i mentioned sam flax orlando earlier...and they have a poster special - just a simple black metal frame on a piece about 18x24 will probably be under 50. very basic. i agree that sometimes people overdue it, throw on too many mats, choose a funky frame, but its all subjective. i'm a big believer that in most cases, the mat/frame accentuates the print. i dont think i've seen a frame job that i've thought looked better plain (with no mats). but, if you are hanging a ton of pieces together on one wall, this is the best way to go. with so many different designs clustered on one wall, same mat or no mat with same frame brings it together.
i've done triple matting 2 times and i was very happy with the result both times.
i've posted cleveland 03 before, but here it is again:
and heres mccarthy's LQL:
youre the one thats going to be staring at it, seeing it everyday, choose something you're happy with. you have to obviously recognize your budget, but at the end, if it means spending a little more for something that you love vs. spending less and settling for something you think is ok, i'd always go for more. afterall, framed pieces usually stay in your collection longer.
There is something so calming about staring at this print at night in the dark...
i remember seeing someone's LQL posted here and i saved it on my computer. went back and searched in this thread and its yours! i'd be lying if i said the way you did it didnt influence mine. so thanks for that! this print turned out awesome and yes, seeing it at night (and even during the day) is calming. i actually have this in my room now (next to the klausen dragons) and the glow lasts so long. i wake up in the middle of the night and its still glowing....

i just got these framed for about $117 each...single matte, black metal frame, uv glass and acid free backing....since it's so expensive to frame, i try to keep it simple and still make sure they're presented well and will be preserved
very nice job on the hartford...i'm digging it. this is one of my favorite posters from this summer, not sure why but just really like it...
here's a question for the thread...i've only seen the hartford framed up in a black frame (naturally) - i've been debating for months if i could pull off another color (ex blue, red, or purple that matches the poster)....what do you'all think?
I think you definitely can pull off another color. There are a couple of purples and pinks that would work, you just gotta try to find one that you like. I did silver to match with my Spain/Portugal 06.

I use the UV-protection acrylic from americanframe.com, but I think that the poster itself is what pops out. Its an awesome print.

So, I got the Eddie Blue East Coast poster for my best friend for her birthday. This is the first poster that I have bought. I am surprised that it is so hard to unroll. What is the best way to get this flattened out. I am giving it to her next weekend and am short on cash to frame it. Is their a somewhat cheap and quick way to frame this...where it will look ok and still be protected?
If I knew where it was I would take you there. There's much more than this
