It's triple matted - thin red on the inside, white, grey. I'm just not sold on the grey. May have to take it back in and have it done in black instead.
The Portugal '96 has a thin line of orange on the inside:
thats pretty funny, my d.c. looks exactly the same with the matting and gray, my thoughts were hmmm...how much to re-mat and get rid of the gray....let me know what you decide.

My wife, who picked out the matting, LOVES the way this looks in the matting. Guess that means the matting stays...
So, did you buy posters whose main background colors match your wall colors, or did you paint your walls to match the posters you wanted to hang?
Actually all of the walls in the house are still plain ol' white (I am a very lazy person, and painting takes a whole day, sometimes even two!). I just can't figure out how to work the wife's fancy camera, so colors come out all screwy under different lighting conditions. I had to take about 30 pictures just to get those two half decent ones. Really.

Must be an optical illusion, but the wall behind the Albequerque looks yellow/orange in the pic just like the body of the poster, and the Hawai'i wall looks light gray (easier for white to look that shade).

I like yours a lot. Nice choice of frame. I had mine done a long time ago and am not happy with the matting. I really wish I had known MF at that time. He actually recommended no matting for this as I recall, but he may have changed his mind since he got one. I still love it though and it is signed by all the band members (auction win) so it is special to me.

I've posted links before but here you go:
The top one MF didn't frame but the bottom one he did and I am in love with it. It doesn't really show in the pic, but it's awesome and puts the top one to shame.

question: how much do these cost to frame? it would be sweet to get done, but it seems like the framing could cost more than the actual poster.. what is the average price you guys pay??
BTW, did you use non glare glass? In that case it's not exactly like mine. I found the non glare made the print less sharp.
Yeah non reflect, UV resistant.

Prices can vary greatly. Depends on what you want (i.e. multi mattes), what quality of frame, size of the print, etc.. For a good frame job with archival backing / matting / UV glass you should plan for anywhere from $200 to $400.
Or you could encourage the wrath of the Poster Gods and ridicule of the Poster Freaks and go buy a $12.99 poster at K-Mart and do it yourself. But that would decrease the value of your print, and likely damage it after a few years up against that acidic paper and non protective glass.

Not a big fan of that frame job on the Klausen Hawaii.
Mat colors seem pretty bland to me. Matching the colors of the poster isn't always the best route for mat colors.

The goal is to notice the matting and frame last, not first.
The blue and orange mats are linen mats, for from bland in person, very rich and bright like the colors in the print. The top mat extends the edge of the piece creating more depth that draws your attention to the piece itself, rather than some mat color that is not in the print.
There is no "right way" to frame a piece of art, but there are guidelines for the best possible design. Framers are just there so one doesn't make a mistake, like put a bunch of colors in the matting that distract your eye from the focus.
