Not a big fan of that frame job on the Klausen Hawaii.

Mat colors seem pretty bland to me. Matching the colors of the poster isn't always the best route for mat colors.

Colors not in the print are you crazy what would you use then pink.... purple........ that would not work for me :)

    So ...

While waiting to get a few PJ prints from masterframer, I also took a few EMEKs to the fine folks at Off the Wall here in SF ... Naomi and crew did a good job ... kept the matting simple, looked for decent frames ... letting the art speak ...

    Coachella ...

Actually framed my 1st ed over getting the kraft edition framed ... think it just looks cleaner and jumps out more ...

Time to figure out what's next to be framed ... looking at my collection, think most of you would be yelling at me to go with the Klausen Hawaii ...

    http://www.expressobeans.com/members/collections.php?id=9972

... but, think I'm going to go with Gary Houston's 2000 Pearl Jam print ... anyone have that framed?

Slater's '05 Interpol print might be in the running as well.

The goal is to notice the matting and frame last, not first.

The blue and orange mats are linen mats, for from bland in person, very rich and bright like the colors in the print. The top mat extends the edge of the piece creating more depth that draws your attention to the piece itself, rather than some mat color that is not in the print.

There is no "right way" to frame a piece of art, but there are guidelines for the best possible design. Framers are just there so one doesn't make a mistake, like put a bunch of colors in the matting that distract your eye from the focus.

i agree with this all they way...

i love yiour work and havent seen one thing you have done that i havent loved.

    dont change your style

I'm first in line if you ever decide to sell your HOB/BigSummerClassic. Seriously. :) Incredible collection, do you frame everything yourself? I imagine that Alpine 98 frame job was just about impossible to line up perfectly!

That test print will be $10,000 to the first buy it now. Seriously :) I framed almost everything besides the intricate ones -(Emek Charolette,Virgin, Alpine, Portugal, Raleigh - done by Pico) - the rest were by me. I am going to be going with some more basic 2 and 3 mat plain ones for the next 5-10 prints and then I will get silly with some more "hideous, distracting, taking away from the art, over the top mat jobs" for the next few after that for the fun of seeing the "purists" cringe.

No, Given to Fly was done by Pearl Jam only, then they did an intro right into Going to California(Chicago) which was done only by Robert Plant and the Strange Sensation. That's where the videos come in, right then at Going to Cali. So, together with Plant they did Little Sister, Money,Fool in the Rain, and Thank You.

printed on red stock. i don't think a black matte would look good with it and white definetly wouldn't.

I've also been battling the Pitt 06 Framing Matrix. def a black frame, but a black mat = too much black, and a red mat would just look silly...I'm also considering going bareback and using just a black frame.
