I was actually thinking about this a couple of weeks ago when looking at a custom computerize matting shop. It was like a one time $50 cost to program the cutter's routine. and then the price of each mat. I saw some awesome Pitt mats in here...It would be cool for some designer here to create some different images of mats with different shows and have the company do it. To your point if we can pool a bunch of people together, we can probably get a decent discount

Apologies for the ridiculously sized message. Having difficulty sleeping here tonight with a gale blowing so thought I'd display all that I've framed so far on this thread finally. Quite a few to get done yet though.

Absolutely! I used this thread for inspiration and used the American Frames site to experiment with different styles until I'd pretty much exhausted every possibility. In the end I remembered the very reason I started buying posters was because of the art and with these frames it really gets it's chance to be noticed. I admire a lot of the different approaches people use here with tickets, wristbands, stickers etc but it isn't really for me. Some of the recent tours have seen the effort really move up a notch and some of that must be thanks to this thread. Thanks for the kind words folks...

Anyone know of any Good but reasonably Priced Framers in Perth? I want to Finally get my 2006 Perth Poster framed :)

I'm from Perth and have used a couple of framers before - Blue Lizard in Joondalup and also one in Sorrento (can't find the name at the moment). I'd be grateful for any recommendations as well, I have 10 to frame and not sure how to approach it, can't afford to do all 10 at once so might hit some up and see if they'll do me some sort of deal.

I love this thread, great work guys!

I have a 2' x 3' poster that's on glossy paper that I want to frame. It's been rolled up in a tube. Do I need to flatten it out before I frame it, and if so, does anyone have suggestions on how to do this?

If it's been in a tube for a while it won't matter if you take it to the framers like that. It's not coming to any harm where it is so no point putting it at risk now. Framers receive plenty rolled up prints and know how to look after them. I didn't know too much about screen-printed posters or how to store them so took advice on storing them flat until I could get them framed as I had 20+ to get through. After getting a decent storage wallet and plenty acid free paper to layer between them they were stowed away under the bed but I don't believe now that just keeping them in their postage tubes does any harm unless they are going to be in storage for a very long time. I've bought a couple that had been stored in tubes for 7-8 years and they were immaculate, no cracking or anything.

I made a big "portfolio" out of refrigerator box cardboard.....I let the poster "relax" out of the tube for a few days and then slide it rolled side down into my low buck portfolio, which then goes between a mattress and box spring for as long as it takes.

My version of the Pittsburgh poster...framer did a double matte (red to match the ink, white to bring out the colors, and then we decided on a grey frame to match the grey ink. Also, he had a great idea for the back print, which he cut out the back piece and covered it in clear acrylic so that the back poster text is viewable if I wanted to show someone.

If you are in the Pittsburgh area and need a quality framer, please let me know and I'll give you a great person.

That looks great. Interesting to see all of the different combos people have come up with for this print. Picked mine up today. Happy with it but it was pretty hard to decide on the matting for me.
