Check out the "SURPRISES" my framer did on my latest bunch of posters...
I dropped them off and picked out the matte colors & My Framing Professional Julia did the rest:
Pearl Jam / Columbus 2003
Julia did rounded corners instead of the standard square matte for this one:
The top matte is black with blue core,
the middle matte is black with black core
and the bottom matte is red with white core...
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE how she cut the top matte to match the design of the poster:
I STILL think I have the BEST FRAMER in the world!!!
:ugeek:
damn, I love that. I wish I had a local guy/girl out here that could do that with the mats.
Love the green mat on this one, smanchac1 - I might steal your idea!
very cool!

when mine is finished i'll show you how its done, NONE of my posters are littered or burdened with some gawdy matting. takes away from the art, your eyes are overwhelmed by overbearing matting color, sheesh.
Let's not bring negativity into this thread.

This one isn't Pearl Jam...it's my The Black Crowes, Tedeschi Trucks Band & London Souls 2013 Tour Poster:
Julia cut the mattes to follow the contour design of the poster:
Top matte is black with blue core and bottom matte is green with white core:
Couldn't get all of these pictures in a single post...so I split them up!!
:ugeek:
These posters jobs are sick. Arguably the best work I have seen on here.
I really like these ideas that were used when framing.
Next week I should be getting my night 1 of the Jacksonville Vedder show. I was lucky to score one of the signed ones by Ed.
Thanks so much for the compliments...I got lucky finding this little framing shop!!
They really enjoy their work & don't churn them out like some of the big box stores do.
Those Jacksonville shows were AMAZING!!!! LOVE the Brandon Heart we got for Night #1...CONGRATS on getting one of the signed posters!!!
Looking forward to seeing your finished frames
Here's what I did with the Jacksonville set:

Can someone tell me a typical quote on a custom frame (let's say one matte)??
A buddy told me he was quoted a little over $300 for one poster to be custom framed.
ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME??? I have about 10 PJ posters that are all black frame/black matte and after seeing these I am thinking of investing in a few to be custom framed.
But $300 FUCKING DOLLARS!!!!! No effing way.

I have had all of mine done by a guy in the 10C who owns a frame shop (The Hoff). I have paid about $160 per print and he does top quality work with acid free mats and UV glass (so I know that my prints are safe).
He does poster framing specials a couple times per year when he offers that price.

That's WAY HIGH!!!
For a normal gig poster with 1 matte opening, I'd say between $120 to $180(depending on the frame, matte & glass you pick) would be about right!
I only paid $174 for this one:
and it has 3 mattes:
PLUS a CUSTOM cut in the upper corner:
I only use UV Non Glare Glass too!!
Even this frame job was under $300:
This one was around $275

Looking for some help - figured you'd be the right people to ask.
I finally tracked down an older (2007) poster I'd been looking for for a while now (it's a white stripes item)...
Anyway, when it finally showed up last night, I realized that it's like 26" x 30"... i.e. will not fit in one of those picturesque presentation cases from Jerry's....I've also got others in existing cases that have that 36" dimension, and really should be moved to a larger storage folder to better protect them...
Have any recommendations for something that would store oversized posters? for now it's just back in the tube, but I don't want to leave it there for long...
thanks!
Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.

Here's what I use to store my oversized posters:
It's a 36" x 48" Black Foam Core Display Board made by Elmer's...the Glue People!!
It's one of those things you'd use for your science fair display :ugeek:
You can pick one up at Staples for around $15.00.
I use brown craft paper between the poster and foam core to give a little more protection,
but this works PERFECT for me!!
