These are top notch frame jobs. Great job!
  • This certainly looks like the group to answer a question from a newb like myself.
Of the posters I have framed, they are all plaque-mounted. I went with that for durability sake, thinking they will stand up better as i swap them in and out of storage/display. Have I diminished there value by doing that? I haven't seen many others framed that way.
My white whale is the Donkey Kong poster (need to commemorate the greatest show I've ever been to.) Am I more likely to find a trading partner with or without the plaque mounting?

In case I'm speaking chinese, this is plaque mounting:

:o:o Yep that is a no no... And you are more likely to find a trading partner without dry mounting...

If you're thinking in selling them, well yes you're diminished their value, some people may not have a big problem with that but most of us do, but even those who not mind wouldn't pay too much for them, so if you wanted to keep them forever and ever and protect them well you made the right decision.

  • Crap.

Thanks to pjfan31 and arq for the informed (and fast!) response.

I would never have thought of giving up any of my collection, but I'm at the point that I would give any of mine up (except maybe my Klausen Toronto 06,) for a 2010 MSG2.

The good news, I guess, is roughly half of my collection are still in tubes. I may have to save up a few more pennies before I do anything with them.

    Thanks again.

I would recommend getting your prints out of those tubes. Poster tubes are not a good way to store prints for a long time. Instead store them flat in a portfolio or (for a cheaper option) between sheets of acid free foam core.

  • Thought I'd get some suggestions from people that have shown us their posters....

I'm currently in the process of creating a theater room in my house. The room is approximately 18X20 and has a vaulted celing. I'm wondering how many posters in that room are too many? I have attended 20 shows and have posters from all except Toledo, OH '96...for which there was no poster. I also have 5 from PJ20. So, all in all, I have 20+ posters I'd like to display.

I'm just wondering if 20 posters in one room is overkill. Thoughts?

I have 26 posters in a 20 x 30 room....probably have room for a couple more. There's no such thing as too many posters

From a value point of view, it's really about whether it's in original condition. If a process is reversible (i.e. framing) then that's cool. You can never get the poster back from the state you have put it in, so that's bad. I wouldn't do it personally, I also wouldn't drymount. I can't imagine selling any of my posters so their actual value isn't important to me, it's just the idea that it's still in "original" condition I guess.

  • After years of buying and storing posters under the bed I FINALLY got some framed. Thrilled with how they came out!

The Toronto moose turned out amazing. I used a leather/wood looking frame to pick up on his antlers and the wood from the violin and the tree. The matting is a light blue similar to the sky and the moose's fur.

Hamilton skull I just kept it simple, black frame, white matting.

PJ20 billboard I included a few pictures of the billboard at various stages throughout the weekend along with myself and friends. Went with purple matting for the poster.
