EBowie wrote:Hey everyone,
Great posters............I'm looking to get a couple of mine framed. What's a reasonable price range for custom framing? I've never had anything professionally framed and just don't want to get hosed. Thanks.
You can do it yourself with materials from Americanframe.com for about $60-$0 per poster. Cheaper if you change up your frame and glass. Professionally can run $100+ per print. Don't let doing it yourself intimidate.0 -
WeBelongTogether wrote:nice - any mattes?
Umm... I don't know what that means. This is my first framing and I didn't real know what I was doing. Pleasantly surprised how it came out.

For those of you who have used americanframe.com, if you dont buy the plexiglass from them how much does it usually cost to buy glass locally? Are the mattes, and backing, and everything else acid free ( i supposed to use acid free right?) and lastly what do I need to know about matte sizes as compared to poster size? i dont want to order all this to find out I made a dumb mistake.
Thanks in advance.

Very nice! Can I ask what you chose? is that a double-frame? or did you use a red matte?Camden - 5/28/06; Camden - 6/20/08; MSG - 6/25/08; Newark - (Ed Solo) 8/7/08; Philly - (Ed Solo) 6/12/09; Philly - 10/30/09; Philly - 10/31/09; Newark - 5/18/10; MSG - 5/20/10; MSG - 5/21/100 -

Thanks for the compliments all. The red is the frame....it's a double frame with a 2 1/4" black matte. Seriously, I spent a good half hour with my framer trying to come up with something for this poster. It's not easy to match the colors in the poster....they are very off base.....and a red matte would have been overboard.
If I thought this one was hard......I was wrong....the EV Batman poster was TOUGH.....my framer and I were so frustrated....we must have spent about 40 minutes with it....finally decided on a black frame with black matting....we decided to let that poster speak for itself.0 -
