Ive seen both red & white frames on the DC and really don't like it.
Woah, it doesnt bother me. I just thought you mighta over exaggerated. Ruin is a bit harsh but I guess you didnt. You are correct, to each his own. I completely understand where your'e coming from.

I wouldn't say it ruins it, but, to me ... the red frame is distracting.
The idea of a black frame for most is to keep the focus on the art, not the frame.
But everyone's eye is different, so, frame however you want as long as it looks good to you.

With DC I just wanted to do a different thing, I love having a fun doing a for each poster different frame, different colors and mat's to match the art but I also understand the theme of all black frames specially if you put them on the wall like decides2dream that is one beautiful wall.
I agree that frame shouldn't take nothing from the art, I try to do that, black frame is the safest way but I like to play
Next project one black frame that I can open glass easily like a kitchen cabinet and change the poster every day if I want to. I am thinking of using metal painted panel with special magnets to hold the poster.
I have a small problem, no more walls in my house or workshop, sometime I get tired of some posters and I would like to see some new ones but I can't frame 100 poster so this way I can keep the special ones as it is and all others I can change.
I love this game

exactly.
i find various colors, frames, styles, matting....especially when displaying many posters together, very distracting from the art. thus, i do all black, no mats. gotta do what works for you!

that's an awesome idea!
perhaps something i should've embraced...;)
Oooh, that "medicine cabinet" kinda hinged poster frame idea is a good one!
I have at least 3 friends who all have a perfect black frame and glass exactly LP size-- with a top-slot and rear thumb grab indent to easily pull and replace Vinyl Albums into a hanging frame.... don't even hafta take the frame apart to reload.
Fun, every time we're over there drinking, we picks a new album for one budyy to display...

look froward to seeing it...
I can't find alot of Hartford 08 frame jobs here and I know that poster is really mesmerizing once its up on the wall..
all its powers are wasted sitting in its tube right now..
plus I have Matt Cameron's drumstick from that show (caught it after the end of "Fuckin' up" if you watch the youtube version.. you can see Matt throw his sticks out to the left side of the stage at the end)..
I may put that underneath the poster on some hooks (somehow?)..

Just picked this up. It's from the two solo Ed shows in Honolulu I went to with my two good friends. The beer bottle was given to me by Ed himself when he pulled me up on stage to help him with the lyrics of Crazy Mary. The whole experience of the entire trip was absolutely amazing, capped off by getting to sit on stage with Ed. The memories in this little shadow box mean more to me than any poster I own (but my Honolulu '06 Klausen that was autographed and personalized to me by the whole band comes pretty close)!

I really like how you did the Honolulu poster too. It's such a great poster to get creative with the framing. People seem to do a pretty good job with that one. I posted mine a while back, but I'll take any chance I can get to show it off, so I added it to the link. My Ed Hawaii '09 is on there as well.

That DC one is a beaut. Love the Aloha Stadium one too!
I guess thats the beauty of art. I AM a fan of all Black frames. I don't like coloured frames.
Each to their own I guess

Great work
a very different approach to framing, one that is bold, and brave and works really well....
so many of us (me included) go safe with matts and black frames, but what you have there looks great - really i love them...
my favourites the spain 06 -
and honolulu 06 - the most simple and neutral I have seen, and quite easily the best example of that poster looking classy.
Now if only we could get rid of the U2 bit
