All the Abbruzzeses suggestions make me want to pull my brains out of my eye sockets, lol! I just don't understand how anyone can honestly think that, much less suggest it.
Jack Irons could be pretty cool, and i can't imagine that any reason he had for leaving 27 years ago would have anything to do with present day. But in any case, I am SO eager to know what the band does with this!!! Not just with the drumming, but with how it could impact any future sing writing in general. When it comes to music, change can be so good (or not).

I like the idea of Matt Chamberlain too if they're going to record. Know it's a silly sentimental reason but would be cool to have all five drummers play complete albums.

Dave K still my favourite sentiment wise. Though I understand how he'd need a bigger kit.

Read that Facebook post between the lines. He still has a chip on his shoulder. He never really got over his dismissal. To invite him back would be inviting disruption.

It's been 30 YEARS. THIRTY. YEARS.

Meanwhile, Dave Krusen, Matt Chamberlain, and Jack Irons have all been living fulfilled artistic lives. They stay active, and enjoy the fruits of their labor. With respect for the past, and an eye towards the future.

I wish the same peace of mind for Dave A.

    Indeed.

But also those other guys left partially because their own decision. Dave Krusen left because of his drug/alcohol issues, Matt Chamberlain left for the SNL band and Jack left because of the touring issues and to start a family.

Not sure if this has been suggested, but what about this guy?

He left because of the touring and some health reasons associated with that. If he found it physically demanding to tour 27 years ago, I’d imagine that hasn’t changed.
But the other challenges, like focusing on family, have. And the tour schedule won’t be like it was back, so it could be a possibility. Who knows.

I always wondered how he felt playing in SNL while 10 and vs blew up. I haven’t heard him talk about it, hard to think he didn’t regret that decision though.

    I had the same idea!
At least for one song...say one off their second album? It'd be EPIC! EPIC I SAY!

I'm pretty sure it was more a mental health issue, but in any case. physical issues aren't always permanent either, and like you say, touring in 98 is nothing like now, since they barely tour at all. But anyhow, I just think it would be sorta cool (I personally think the was their best drummer muscially), if only for In My Tree, haha, but really, anyone who is good and we don't have to worry about in terms of health and jiving with the rest of the band would be just fine with me!

Fortunately for him he has played with many great artists and has had steady work.

Jack left in 98 when they were set to play like 80 more shows in that coming year. There's a possible chance this band won't play 80 more shows in their career lol.

I don't think it'll be any of the former guys, but wouldn't be surprised if it's someone with close ties to one of the members. This thread will end up like the 2025/2026 rumor threads and we may not get an answer for a long, long, time.

Either way, cheers to MFC. He saved this band 27 years ago and deserves to go out the way he wanted. Just hoping that it was on his terms and not something else.

Yeah, his resume is pretty impressive. But still, playing in the Wallflowers in the late 90s wouldn’t compare to being with Pearl Jam in the early 90s.

He also toured with SG when Cameron couldn’t make their 2014 tour. Would be fitting it fill in again now.

I asking a serious question. Should this be it? Great great album in DM. Did a sizable tour to support it.
Certainly going out on a high note. If it’s not a drummer that elevates and quite possibly alters the songs in a good way it would be hard to watch
