All the Abbruzzeses suggestions make me want to pull my brains out of my eye sockets, lol! I just don't understand how anyone can honestly think that, much less suggest it.
Jack Irons could be pretty cool, and i can't imagine that any reason he had for leaving 27 years ago would have anything to do with present day. But in any case, I am SO eager to know what the band does with this!!! Not just with the drumming, but with how it could impact any future sing writing in general. When it comes to music, change can be so good (or not).

This! And I thought Irons stopped because of health reasons with the tour schedule.

I saw Matt Chamberlain playing in Paul Simon's band at the Beacon Theatre three weeks ago and thought he was great. His drumming on "50 Ways to Leave Your Lover" was a highlight of the night.

Whoever it is hopefully they don’t make the sets more predictable than they already are.
Agreed! That had to be in large part 6o tge new album, right? New album, age limiting quantity and having to 0lay "the hits" really consumed the playlist.

Granted, I don’t know anything about drumming styles and I know it’s such an out of box thought but would love to see Stewart Copeland in the choices. Totally not the same type of music that I saw with the Police but could be interesting…
I doubt they want a 72-year-old drummer and I doubt the 72-year-old wants to join a new band full time.

Janet Weiss would be amazing, but since her split with SK didn't go well, I don't think it'll happen.

If Dave K or Matt Chamberlain isn't available, I vote Richard Stuverud.

The departure of Matt means the end of Pearl Jam for me. I still may see them if they are close and I score 10C tickets. But I will not be working very hard to attend a concert without Matt. And I will not pay $250 a ticket to see a replacement.
I agree with you completely. The news to me was devastating, in that the band I’ve known and loved, is essentially over. Cameron made them a better band. He was their engine. He was their heartbeat.  And he was powerful. They will never be the same again.

I'm in denial about the fact that I'm starting to feel the same way.

If PJ's 5 best albums didn't come before MC joined the band, I would be way more pessimistic about what's to come.

But they did, so I'm cautiously optimistic.

You're paying to see 4 of the original members. I love Matt but to not see a band because their 5th drummer is no longer there doesn't make a lot of sense.

I think a lot of people are underestimating what a change like this could mean at this point in the band’s timeline. (Especially considering we don't know why this is happening.)

Oh, I feel that anxiety… I’m holding out hope they do this right, but I’m very anxious about what’s to come.

I think people are underestimating their ability to find a drummer than could nail down 100 songs to put in rotation.

A new drummer might impact how they approach new material, but since my top 5 albums are all ten-yield anyway, and the fact they put out about 2 albums a decade, songwriting without MC isn’t a big concern for me.

All I really hope for at this point in their career is a chance to see them every few years and play the songs I’ve loved for over 30 years. There are drummers out there that can make that happen.

I agree which was my point earlier. Is this time to hang it up? They want to take a 2 year hiatus. They are 60. Bodies wont feel better, voices wont get better in 2 years. They will continue to decline

IF that's what they want to do. Which we don't know.

I would love Dave K to be the choice. Or Jack. Could Jack play the MC stuff? I'm a bass player, not a drummer.
Hugh Freaking Dillon is currently out of the office, returning sometime in the fall

Apparently no one has faith in this band after 35 years

At least for one song...say one off their second album? It'd be EPIC! EPIC I SAY!
