I would love to see Ritchie Kotzen hook up with them. Brandi Carlisle did a great job too.

STP wasn't good after Weiland died, let alone Bennington—I have no interest in their new stuff, perhaps it's decent. Black Gives Way to Blue was a great album, but everything after it hasn't been.
I don't have a thirst for SG without CC
This is where I'm at. SG was my least favorite of the "big 4" grunge bands as it was.
Again, good for MFC—he deserves all the happiness in the world. As a fan, though, it's just disappointing.

AIC is the perfect example. For years it seemed Laynes voice was to unique to be replaced. They have many fans who are happy they are a band again.

the “only Chris can sing for them” folks are free to not listen and stay home. If the surviving members want to reunite, that’s their right. Just as it’s Matt’s right to not give us two words about what led him to his decision.

Layne's departure/death made it evident just how important Cantrell really was to the signature AIC sound. And like I said, BGWTB was a genuinely killer album. I just couldn't get into the next two.

    Nah, not you.

I agree with you on AIC... I've had little to no interest since Layne passed. It's not the same for me, but if others like it, more power to them.

Matt Cameron: Do you know what we do here?

    Fans:
Yes sir… I have an idea.

Matt Cameron:  Whoa, whoa, whoa… Let's say you have no idea and leave it at that okay? No idea. Zip. None.

Totally disagree about STP. I never caught Bennington with them but Jeff is great and the guys can still play.

And AIC...Rainier Fog was a great album and they still rock live.

I was an SG fan first....didn't get into PJ hard core until SG broke up.

STP? The DeLeos can play. Was never an AIC fan. To me there is no Soundgarden without Chris. I think Vicky will to see to that. Not sure how PJ moves on from this. I guess they have replaced drummers a few times.

I can’t imagine how exhausting it would be to be that age and touring, maybe the dude just wanted to slow down and enjoy a different pace of life with family?

That's my guess. I hope to retire at 62 as well.

Artists, art. I can't see any way that any of these guys "retire" in the 10 to 20 years. Continue as PJ, maybe not. But look at the Stones, Who, Neil Young and a whole bunch of musicians in their 70's and 80's. It's in their blood to create and perform.

As for Matt. He got a good taste of stepping out from behind the kit in Portland 2024.Maybe that's more his next move. Pull a Dave Grohl.

I agree with this. So many great bands continue until they physically can’t.
A big difference when you’re older is they get to play when and where they want. They don’t need to do 70-show tours, 4 nights a week unless they want to.
People who retire at 60 will still take up a hobby. I imagine for a lot of them that is still music when it can be on their own terms and not just a grind.

Saw that first post-Layne AIC tour and it was not for me. Have seen Puciato do the Layne parts on JC solo tours and that is very much for me.

Was too big of a Weiland fan to bother with any of the newer STP stuff.

Would absolutely give a new hypothetical Soundgarden a chance.

A big difference between SG and the other bands is wasn’t Chris the main writer for soundgarden?
Hard to replace both the main person behind the music and the voice. STP and AIC was different.
Although, I’d see any of them if it was local. Still would be good, just not the same. I Wanted to see AIC a few times, but was out of town when they came by.
