Was just messaged by someone who just informed me a drummer has indeed already been selected. There was 1 drummer who was the frontrunner. I can say that Perkins was one of the candidates, but the main frontrunners name wasn’t a name thats been floated around yet.

I don’t know if i can share the name, so i will double check and if i can share, i will.

Edit: I unfortunately cannot share name.

it's interesting there wasn't even a hint of this in the newsletter 3 days ago.
It's kind of discouraging isn't it? The newer PJ mgmt seems to be MUCH more business and less fan friendly in regards to tour info.
Why do they need to be fan friendly leaking info?
I didn't say they NEED to be. I just noted the difference between the approach of the new guard as compared to the old guard - and my subsequent disappointment in the new guard.

Ever go to a restaurant that had new owners? Maybe the wine selection is the same. Perhaps the appetizers are now better. But then they changed the recipe for your favorite lasagna main course and it is NOT nearly as enjoyable. It is okay to admit out loud that you noticed a change and you were disappointed. That is okay.

So we can plan our trips out a bit further ahead of time. I'd wager many people on the forum have traveled at least domestically, if not internationally, for a show. Non-forum members are probably more likely to just hit up a local show.

I've already planned my summer vacations, so any summer stops are effectively out for me. Had there been any inkling of a Japan tour a month ago, we might be headed to Japan rather than Chile.
Assuming they're considering any subset of fans at all wouldn't it be the Japanese fans where this is a rare occurrence? Versus setting ideal travel conditions for western fans who want to see show 75 or whatever?

I agree. Some aspects of recent tours suggest to me they're doing their best to draw more local fans. That's fine.

Exactly. Everyone in this thread is after the same thing. No shame from me!

We all want to know, and I feel like even if we start getting hints here and there we're still going to want more.

The touring/ticketing issue: I know I'd be pissed if I got shut out of 10C tickets for a local show because people from 500+ miles away got them instead of me.

I know ticket allocation is random (not seating assignments), but there is a benefit to local fans when stuff doesn't get leaked.

The drummer issue: Stephen Perkins definitely seems to be the popular rumor. The pieces all seem to fit. He needs a job and they need a drummer. It reminds me of when Soundgarden broke up in the late 90s. There *was* another name which would also make sense, as he has some familiarity with Eddie, but yeah...this other name I heard won't be the guy.

Musically/sonically speaking, Person_B_Not_Stephen probably wouldn't fit with the band, but also how the hell won't he be the guy? Everything would then come full circle if it already hasn't already.

The other stuff: I saw something here on Mike's opera. It seems like he's very busy with that.

I don't think this is fair. I think it’s very cool when we get the wink wink leaks here but it shouldn't be an expectation.
I don't feel like I said anything unfair at all. I didn't say it is owed to us or required. I just stated that the new management has not been as eager to leak this information with us. Tickets and merch still sell, so I get the lack of concerning themselves with putting little nuggets out there for us.

And while only a small portion of us do travel, it is very helpful to have hints. Many have saved hundreds...even thousands on cheaper travel due to these hints. I simply speculate the older management understood/cared for that for the loyal fan base a bit more. The new group in charge has their own way of doing things. Heck, even saying that isn't a knock on the new mgmt, it's just stating the difference between the two.
Agree. Whilst the band’s management have absolutely no reason to leak any info, it has been really helpful to get the hints for previous tours. I haven’t travelled abroad to see them much but due to the forum / this community I have saved quite a lot. Eg, I booked the hotel at Barcelona near the venue for 3 nights a month or two before the tour was officially announced. Cost me around €330, but it was €1,000 as soon as it was officially announced. This is of course a bonus, and a nice surprise to get the hints, and no one associated with the band has any obligation to do so.

Zippos that are show specific, yikes.

I know we've had Ohana ones before but never ones for each venue on a leg. That is a curveball
