I never get tired of hearing the lore over and over again. I love the energy and awe about how it all came together and how grateful they all feel to be doing this together.

I always know it's been a blast listening to an interview when after it's over you realize you've been smiling for the last hour plus.  That was great!  Love Rick Beato's work, love that he had Mike and Jeff on!

    me too.
  • Great Beato episode! I could have watched a 3 hour version of this and it still wouldn’t have felt long at all. To the person complaining about old stories, there were actually some new ones that I hadn’t heard before, so it’s well worth it (like when Mike said he didn’t want to do a show on the first week for MLB record contract purposes). Love all the positivity and excitement to still be in a band. Also nice to see Jeff set Billy Corgan straight.

We talk about the next album a lot,” Ament said. “We ask ourselves, ‘How can we do something that will really surprise us?’ One of the ideas on the table is using an eight-track, assigning each of us a track. It’d be a way to get back to a more raw, direct, spontaneous sound.” The goal is to let chemistry and creative freedom lead the way, without any restrictions.

I haven't finished the episode, but that part was the first 22-(23?) minutes (unless they go back to it later).

I thought the same thing during that portion...can we hear about post 1998? lol

There may be some gems in that ~23 min that some didn't know already, so maybe it's worthwhile. 🤷‍♂️

I don't think Beato is the dude to get off the hits and the first years. Did you see his "what makes this song great"-series, it didn't really stray off the beaten path.

I think they should sit down with Billy Corgan if "inside" stories is the thing, or someone like Marc Maron who might come with some "Dude! I remember when you guys bla bla bla. What was that all about?" or whatever.

Some good musical insights and a few new anecdotes (macrame TV), but otherwise nothing really new.
