On a new album - It didnt sound to me that they were working on a new album like immediately, just Jeff discussed their thinking process in the past and potential future... But am I missing something? Was there a definite "we're going into the studio soon" type of quote I missed?

There wasn’t any quote like that. And you have to take anything Jeff says with a grain of salt anyway. Remember when Stone said a new album was “on the one yard line” and Jeff immediately said “nope, it’s nowhere near that close”? Because we now know that Dark Matter was actually finished before either of those quotes. They like to play close to the vest.

We know the basics of the early stuff. But lately we've been getting more stories. There's still more from that time. I wish they got a documentary series treatment.

begs the question, what if he wasn't on that duty and was however he was generally at that time. Do they land like they apparently did?

I know Stone and Mike knew each other from school but was fun to learn how Jeff would see him at parties and stuff. And the story about getting on the guest list for the Shadow show at the Moore cus the singer illegally parked at the restaurant he worked at. Awesome stuff.

He def wants to being himself into the conversation. But his podcast also is musicians talking about a shared proffession. It’s not Larry King ”interviewing”. 

It’s impossible not to have him grate a bit. Bit there are also fun stuff in the episodes ive listened to (Gene, Tom Morello and the STP brothers)

To be fair, this isn't an interview just for Pearl Jam fans. This is an interview for music fans, most of whom may not know the backstories we do as long-time fans of the band. I still enjoyed it immensely.

  I think this is a very narrow view of what the talk could be about and still engage both general music-fans and fans. 

I think it’s a funamentally boring trait for a so-called ”huge fan”-interviewer to get stuck in in the ”first years”. Leave that for The View.

(still a very nice listen and great talk about the first years).

I had never heard some of those details before. I didn't know it was Mike that convinced Stone to bring Jeff into the band. I always thought Jeff and Stone kept going after Andy, and recruited Mike and the rest. But it was Stone and Mike jamming  and Mike convincing Stone to bring back Jeff. Pretty cool to hear that story.

I'm not sure what there is to talk about the last 20 years.   In 2006 the wash/rinse/repeat touring style started.  Amazing live shows, solid albums, same members of the band, less drama, posters still, bootlegs still, etc....  The only thing I am interested in is how the band interacts with each other in the studio.  Perhaps we could have got more of that, but even then I'm not sure we'll get much more than what die hard fans have already heard over the years.

Fully agree. Although I’ll always want to know what happened to the “forthcoming” album with Brendan O’Brien. And what made them swap to Josh Evans and (I assume) ditch some songs.
