So while in the grand scheme of things this is nothing and its just something to talk about. its still a bad look and unprofessional and another notch in how toxic this admin is. 

So - having a US government employee at the Olympics...not a big deal.  I don't really care about the "private plane" argument in this instance.  Now if I were president, I might not have the FBI guy on that trip...but it's not a big deal (to me).

The trips with the girlfiend...sure...dumb.  I didn;t see about his head comms guy...just dumb to lie.  Just own it.  

The partying...it's a celebration.  The team is having a great time and they were enjoying Patel there and participating.  I think the decorum argument is really weak and annoying.  I am fine with people being themselves, being normal human beings and not politicians all the time.  It's actually refreshing when it's as benign as this was.  I do not find anything unprofessional about it to be honest.

I'm not personally worried about the "taxpayer dime" stuff, both sides pull that shit (it seems way worse by maga, but still). But yeah, at a certain level, at THIS level, I don't expect people to act like a frat boy. It doesn't matter his political affiliation to me. 

The distinction here is that he was being billed as being on official business. He wasn't on vacation. Day off? Maybe. But when your trip is official business, and in front of the world to see, not a private vacation where some dipshit took video of you on your private yacht, yeah, it's a problem. 

This isn't pretension. This is normal decorum from high ranking officials. It's weird that you're ok with that.

Clinton. Considered a good politician. And a very, very smart man. I have met him several times and have never met another man with the amount of knowledge he has. But he was impeached. There's also something akin to "stolen valor" here; or maybe "stolen glory." The administration needs to insert itself into the moments of others. Trump's truly pathetic AI hockey video is another strange version of this. I know White House visits for championship teams have been a thing since at least the 1980s but I don't recall too many government officials in the locker rooms. 

Even though the administration probably has 100% support and even worship in that particular locker room, can't they let the people who actually made the moment happen celebrate in that moment? Do they need to insert themselves into the greatness of others because they're not actually making the lives of their constituents better?

By the way, dictatorial regimes have a history of extensive involvement in their countries' international sports programs. Admittedly, my own bias (aka, distaste for this unprofessional group of lowlifes bringing on autocracy) may play into this reaction. That said, I don't remember any other US regime acting this way. I'm not quite outraged but it's a terrible look.

Obama made money selling books. Once a politician leaves office they are certainly able to rake in money with speaking fees. Nothing wrong with that.

I agree with the Bin Laden strike. But he could never get his initiatives passed. Obamacare was a failure. He did create positive energy, but was not a effective lawmaker.

Lipstick on a pig. Different but the same abuse of power. And like it or not, Trump is getting things done although it does skirt the boundaries of legality. Even if you hate everything he is doing. Calling it objectively. He set objectives and is doing something about it. And to be clear, I do not agree with his tactics. I am not a Trump supporter, but I do have some appreciation for a President that is taking action and not waiting around for congress.

We can agree to disagree. FDR's new deal was lawmaking. Presidents can 100% pursue new laws and they should. Even if sponsored by congress or independently. The president can drive the car bringing new law. No doubt Trump is testing the limits of Presidential authority and legality. But he is not sitting on his hands or being apathetic. Even if I disagree with his positions and tactics.
