Our review of 700+ videos of the Portland protests shows a wide gap between the reality on the ground and the characterizations by Trump, Fox News and DHS, which said its office in the city was under “coordinated assault by violent groups.”

    He dogged the question.

    First time with Brando?
I do not follow Chitown politics so that is a yes.
He's a trip. And a not good mayor. He has had some Ws with some of the ICE stuff plaguing the city.

Well Bentley seems to think he gets it...
I mean, he is right in this case. But yes, he didn't answer the question. He does that a lot.

to confirm, Rachel Maddow existing on MSNBC does not make MSNBC far left. Their day time lineup is basic cable news. Their evening programs are pretty centrist with attorney Ari Melber and Nicole Wallace (famously of the Bush White House) and Jen Psaki ( famously of the Biden WH). Former Bloomber exec Stephanie Ruhl doing the business side of government and Larry O'Donnell, such a classic democrat he interns for Moynahan and produced the West Wing, every liberals fantasy show). I guess Chris Hayes is pretty left, but I also think he's intellectually pretty fair. Morning Joe is as centrist as they get and thats their longest program. Kinda tells you all you need to know about the network.

I watch Nicole almost every day and the near entirety of her show is “Trump is evil.” There is absolutely zero balance and perspective any more. Her show spends zero minutes challenging any extremism from the left, including the recent socialist wave. Her show and her network spent zero minutes covering our city’s history with President Ford and what influenced him to tell us to “drop dead.” During the last few weeks when this city’s politics was top news story.  Yes that’s a news trope.
    Socialist wave - that’s funny.

I believe he gets it in regards to the immigration issue and the a-holes at ice.
As for the rest of it yeah he's having issues. And will continue to do so.

He seemed more focuses on what the people are called rather than answer the question or fixing the problem.

Spinning the story. The signs of a true politician!

So here me out on this.  If illegal immigration/undocumented/asylum/whatever starts to become detrimental to society, can it not be treated as criminal?

This is the angle I see ICE and Trump are going for.

It comes down to how they are charged I guess. Right now it should be a civil proceeding with fines. If they want to Try people then the laws need to be changed so that people get charged as criminals.

I guess they need to prove how its "detrimental to society" and even that is gonna be open to interpretation.

But basically what they are going for is what they are doing and the question I find more interesting is where is the line where they think they are done.

Could be but the problem is they can not prove how they arrived here. The illegal part is crossing the border and many were brought here as a minor so they didn’t do anything illegal. Whoever brought them here did.

Again, most of these people contribute to the economy and are a net benefit to the US. Who cares how they got here or what their status is. Kick out the bad ones? Sure. Better enforce the border? Certainly. Punish those that crossed the line and are here living trying to get by? Nah.

What other angle could the Trump admin be going for?  This very same thing has been done before and everyone got sued and lost and had to pay out a lotta of tax payer dollars.

I don’t see any Americans waiting in line to cut lawns to cut down trees to clean houses to wait tables! What are Americans waiting in line for except to get a Chickfillet?

I always hear that, but that just depends on where you live. When I was in California, that was true most of the time (except the waiting tables, always plenty of white people doing that). Colorado, was about 50/50.
Where I live now, most people I see cleaning houses and doing lawn care are white.
