I admittingly don't know all that much about Medicare. That will soon change in the next 24 hours, as I will educate myself.

1st thing I have become aware of? I have to pay a separate premium for prescriptions, on top of my regular A and B cost of Medicare?
Typical A-B Medicare does not cover prescriptions?

    Interesting

Damn never figured you were that age. There is also the Medicare supplement issue which is complicated
I qualify due to the fact that the government considers me permanently disabled. Im 59.

Sorry to hear that. I recall reading your comments years ago (damn the medical industry can be a headache)  right when I was starting going thru knee back  and hand issues. None are enough to qualify me for dbl, but they work together for making 8 hours of desk work difficult and uncomfortable, so I bought a hospital desk and do most work in a recliner. Lots of new strain on neck but it’s doable for a couple years before SS…So you are younger, the world is as thought!

    Isn't getting old fun?

But today is a GREAT DAY!!

Our house was listed publicly Friday night, and we had 5 showings yesterday. A few hours later we had an offer. Very close to what we are asking, potential buyer isn't asking for anything ridiculous on my end. He has serious downstroke money, and from what my realtor can see, this is a perfect prospective buyer.

Im gonna be sitting at the pool or ocean much sooner than later!

Sorry to hear about your ailments. Do you just deal with it? Or does prescription medication help?

    Take me piece by piece.....
Till there aint nothing left worth taking away from me.....

Good news on the house offer.

Thanks and congrats! Florida awaits! I do a lot of PT. It’s a long road, but hopefully in a years time, muscles will be good enough to offset the various issues.

I don’t know what your name is or what colour your skin is but you may want to further anglicize your name and not be tan, in light of the Medicare/Medicaid personal data being shared with ICE. I’d hate to see you spend any of your retirement in Flo Rida in alligator Alcatraz. Just saying.

Speedy is as American as it gets. Hard working citizen for decades. Take your immigration narrative elsewhere. The complaint might be that his hard earned dollars are being spent on the immigration crisis. Instead of taking care of HIM.

He still might want to take precautions. It’s not like American citizens haven’t been detained. And with Deathsantis trying desperately to out COOTWH, COOTWH, all bets are off.

Bullshit. Keep plying your trade. Speedy, and many others like him, are so far off the list it makes your commentary comical. It undermines anything meaningful you might have to add. Too suggest that someone like him, or even myself, is at risk is a joke. Go catch some crab and leave US politics alone. Sorry for the derailment.

Keep making excuses for and normalizing the march toward authoritarianism. How about Jose? He’s retired, for thread integrity, and an American. Should he be concerned or is thinking he’s at risk a joke? “Go catch some crab?” Sure, as soon as I get some bait and a net.

As for Speedy and his retirement in Flo Rida, I wish him nothing but the best, hope it’s everything he imagined and more, I’m insanely jealous and think I, and many millions of others, may never be able to retire. And not because we didn’t spend a lifetime of working, saving money or keeping our “noses clean,” as my dad used to say.

Speedy, enjoy Flo Rida but please do look out for the bath salt smokers, alligators and ICE agents. Oh, and too many Dole Whips.

PS: please consider writing a book about your experiences on the road. Title suggestions include: Truckin’, Tales From the Road or Tales From the Highways and Biways. Or, In It For the Long Haul. I’m sure you have stories.

    Everyone else, fucking relax.

You only have to fear ICE if you are here with bad intentions or improper credentials. Try getting into Korea or Singapore with no visa. They do not put you up, they kick you out. There are no tents in Korea. Do you really think established US citizens over 50 with more than 30 years of hard work are at risk? Bullshit. More of your nonsense and scare tactics. We are fine. So get real and stop. Because you have no idea.

"Bad intentions or improper credentials." Sure buddy. You probably still think that nobody has to fear the police, if they just obey, eh?

Who are "we?" White males, native born only? Because you think I have no idea?

Whoa, you told me to stop. Guess I oughta stop posting so I can save dem(ocracy)s? Fucking weak sauce, bro.

Can we stick to the topic? There’s 89 threads to talk about current political issues. Maybe we can move this to AET to avoid this? @Kat

Kathy bought her yearly pass to Disney a couple weeks ago. It was hysterical. Here is my 57 year old wife, and she was never so happy in her life. The smile on her face was just too much.

Anyway, I might, and that's a BIG Might, have a little bidding war on my house today. Or not. The realtor seems to think we will.

    RIGHT ON!!
Because an extra $10k gets me my very small, used, fun in the sun boat.
    Take me piece by piece.....

Sounds like the work you put into the house is definitely paying off.

Yes, and I was sure it would.
Its a small house, perfect for 1st time buyers. For someone who doesnt have huge money, its perfect. Knowing you won't have to worry about anything major for a good 10 years? Puts the mind at ease. I know for a fact that 90% of the houses in this area, in the same price range, all need work. I know it, the realtor knows it, the inspector talked about it. For what my house is, I made it as pristine as I could, and It looks like it was the smart thing  to do.

We’ve been at the beach surfing 3-6 times a week. This is only time of year we enjoy NY, somewhat. I think we’ve settled on Stuart, which took a little while. The search will ramp up as the summer winds down, probably around the end of September.

true...I just had a new client in the other day that mentioned buying a place in FL in the Ft Myers area.

I didn't realize that hurricane insurance is totally separate from homeowners insurance. I just assumed it was baked in to the home premium.

He said they had closed on their house and within a few weeks a hurricane formed and then it was too late for him to get insurance. Luckily they had very little damage.

Everyone and their mother told me car insurance was going to be "So much more expensive". How I needed to be prepared for the BIG HIT I was going to take.

    Its $18  more a month.

It’s all relative to where you’re coming from. I’ll be coming from NYC where traffic is ridiculous and everything costs an arm and a leg so non of that scares me.

You are fortunate. My car insurance is going to double+ from 365 to 774 for six months (also Chicago area to SW Orlando).  Same coverage, same company, no accidents or other issues.

Three years ago it was about 20 more, like yours.
