I find it beyond strange that literally millions of people still support a small cadre of uber-wealthy people who will be the only people to benefit from what is happening in the U.S. right now.  That those million of people are OK with the lowering of the quality of life for the vast majority of Americans while at the same time degrading the environment of the planet that sustains us all.  That are OK with making enemies of our long-standing allies.  It's hard to imagine that so many people can be so small minded as to be in favor of the reckless, greedy, and destructive behavior that is running rampant in America, resulting in the fast-paced stripping of all the good things this country was build upon.  Hard to imagine so many are in favor of the greedy acts of a few people whose only objective is to tear everything down in order to make themselves yet more wealthy, despite the fact that those ultra wealthy individuals literally have more money than they could ever need or spend.
What complete and utter foolishness to actually want to participate in a process that will be seen in history as one of the most bleak and pointless moments in human history.  I wonder how well they will enjoy their poverty and misery when this all washes out? Will they see their "winning" as worth that high a price?  Are so many people actually that deluded?

It's so messed up...I've talked about my brother and sister in law on here before. They are both blue collar workers in OH and do above average income wise but they will argue against increasing tax on billionaires until the end of time.

It's so simple...these people cannot spend the money they have in a thousand lifetimes. Our whole system is based off of redistributing that accumulation and we have let the GOP reverse it.

I'm sorry, Gern, that you have family who are OK with billionaires basically robbing everyone else blind.  I'm very fortunate to not have family members who think that way.  I know a few people who could be called "extended family" members, but they don't talk to me and I don't make any attempt to try to convince them to change.  They are dug in very deep in their MAGA thinking and I don't have the energy to commit to the near impossible.

What's really sad is that all but the most wealthy in this country will eventually suffer to some degree.  The best way to end all this craziness would be for all Americans to come together and oppose tyranny and oligarchic rule, but the divisions are so strong, I don't expect that will happen.  I wish I didn't believe this, but I don't see how that could happen, and it would be our best chance to get past all this.

This is not new. The retRUmplican base has always supported the uber wealthy while not caring what it does to them and their bottom line.
They're brainwashed to think that if the uber wealthy pay little or no taxes that their extra income will trickle down to the base.

The think tank is laying off nearly all of its staff, as its former board sues to stop what it calls a "takeover" by the Trump administration.

Norway, the Netherlands, and Sweden gave the U.S. $15 million for development aid.
    Trump froze the programs.
    The money vanished.
Now they’re asking for it back.

Yeah, the only thing that trickles down as unner-wealthy pay fewer taxes is most people's one's income.  It trickles down the drain.

The worst part is that my brother in law has kind of disassociated himself from us. I'm totally ok with that but it's still odd to me.

It all stems from me pushing back on his bullshit several years ago at our kids graduation party. He was spouting some stupid MAGA talking point and I couldn't take it anymore.

So we have my bro and sis in law on my wife's side and my Uncle on my side of the family that are ultra maga....all else ok

Part of me thinks it's because people think that some how, some way, they may become uber wealthy. I still remember my dad telling me about George McGovern in the 1970s being very well received at a UAW campaign event until talking about estate taxes, when he was booed.

Inherit the Windfall: The Estate Tax Debate : NPRBut when the hall of auto workers, you're saying, in 1972 booed George McGovern for suggesting taxing to the point of elimination estates over $5 million, people are in effect saying, by their booing, that could be my kid who makes $20 million you're talking about. My kids could yet be very successful and very lucky.

    How strange.

Sad thing is, more people now will become less wealthy.

I’d frame it differently more people who are just making will be hurt badly by all his policies!

Trump blabbing about 'making America wealthy again' while America is the wealthiest country on Earth, but all the wealth more and more funnels into the pockets of the rich, and then punishing the rest of the world for it, is almost more than I can bear.

I agree. I used to like him, but he has morphed into an intolerable, arrogant loud mouth.

I often want to apologize to the rest of the world (particularly Canada and Greenland) for what horrible havoc we have heaped on the world.
    I truly am sorry!
