It'll be fun watching governments, businesses, and people line up to kiss Trump's ring in exchange for relief from his tariffs. This will help him expedite the consolidation of power. God bless Amagaca.

I agree. I used to like him, but he has morphed into an intolerable, arrogant loud mouth.

Always been that. I guess he is just now saying stuff you don’t like.
Nope. He changed his personality. He used to be funny and more affable. Over the years he has become more and more full of himself abd like a grumpy old man.

He gets attacked here because he speaks out about liberalism gone too far on a few topics. Dissent is not permitted. Dems version of R politics.

“”Used to be funny?” He recently had a #1 book. In a climate with tv in significant decline, hbo decided to write him another $20 million check.

But he is “full of himself.” A “blowhard.” “An old man” Only because he refuses to bow to the extremist views trying to take over the dem party.

Attack those who are different from us. Whose playbook is that?

Yes Tim S, since you asked, if I see comments I believe are false, misleadingly attacking, I will supply facts to balance the debate.

I've probably lost well over 1000 stadium priced beers in the last 2 days.  Will you buy me a few in Nashville?

You're whole thesis is wrong. Democrats policies aren't the main problem, it's the takeover of how people get their news. It's the lies and disinformation. People are literally being brainwashed.

Just look at Fox News website today. Nothing about the crashing markets.

And social media is a cesspool of lies and misinformation. Republicans are the best at exploiting that. The Democrats just can't compete.

And Bill Maher has changed. He's always been an asshole, but now he is a total out of touch rich old prick. A number one book and succesful tv show is not evidence that he's right or the same guy. Audiences and demographics change.

I can't speak much on Maher, who I have not seen or heard since Simpsons references to President Trump could still be viewed as hilariously out there.

But the rest of this is right on. The GOP is just flat out better at playing the disinformation game. They seem to have a better understanding of how people are reached (while the Dems still think people are getting their info from their local papers and Dan Rather on the CBS Evening News), they lie like it's a bodily function, their mainstream outlets lie by omission, and they cozy up to the right people (e.g., Rogan). And the sad thing is, I don't think even a savvily run left/Dem party could overcome this. They don't own enough media. They don't (and should not) have it in them to make sure people like Zuck come to them hat-in-hand and kiss the ring. And while it's not like a Democratic politician is unable to lie, they don't and can't do so with the un-checked brashness of JD Vance on Fox News.

And ultimately, liberalism just does not align with ruthlessness the way conservatism does (or at least the way it can and is doing today).

Geez, the man has been attacking the far left for almost his entire career.

The thesis is Bill Maher gets shouted down when he doesn’t agree with the far left view. I posted a video of Maher here yesterday, where he politely discussed mid east problems with the ladies on the view. A very polite discussion, and according to the video, they had no objections to what he had to say. Someone else posted a video meant criticize Bill Maher because the video was a rank out contest with comedian Bill Barr. It was two comedians ranking on each other. I raised the point that they agreed on a solution to the mid east problem.

The result of both videos - zero engagement on this forum, other than personal attacks for supporting negotiation.

Just like far left opinions on here. Try to prevent someone from raising objections for who the Democratic Party chooses to defend. It’s happening right in front of our eyes on the forum you like to post on. Whether you choose to see it, that’s entirely up to you. That is your freedom, but please don’t interpret that an accuracy.

Edit: I don't give a fuck about Bill Maher, please just disregard my original comment about him, it was an aside.

Yes Tim S, since you asked, if I see comments I believe are false, misleadingly attacking, I will supply facts to balance the debate.

That's just it, how do you compete with it?

I don't see a solution in this current environment.

    It's depressing.

Maybe you haven’t noticed, but you only reply to comments where you feel offended.

Only is a strong word. Are you prepared to support the accuracy of your comment?

Did you make any attempt to demonstrate that or is it yet another low effort attack? Did anyone else post supporting Maher? If so, I missed it in the sea of criticism of him. Someone else originally  brought up my comments were like Maher yesterday. Was that you? I agreed and believe it’s a discussion worth having.

The media point is excellent. Have the liberals tried to acquire media in rural regions the last ten years? Have they made an attempt to engage this population on an ongoing basis?

their recent shortcomings are twofold. They spend the majority of the likely billions raised to spending in the last month or so of the election. Recently the Rs realized they can outsmart them by muzzling their advertisements close to Election Day by flooding theirs at that time as well. Almost impossible to turn minds so close to an election. Instead, try to have an ongoing narrative with people. That’s the lesson the Rs learned.

obama was great at minimizing the damage in rural regions. He could turn a rural district from 70-30 to 65-35. Dems have run away from that strategy by focusing on ideas fit for other regions. And that’s on the them

the other huge problem was they never had a good answer to inflation. Never raised the point trump broke the supply chain which led to inflation. They ceded the most important argument by forgetting what happened and didn’t understand there was an opportunity to blame the opposition

probably because they were to worried about other issues.

So maybe I offended you with my comment? I know I’ve objectively and dryly responded to you several
    times with no response.

Maher on his show essentially is just reactionary and pulls content from political “trends” on social media. This has turned him into more of a right wing mouth piece. That Maher is different on the view tells me I’m accurate on this take.

I was talking with my wife the other night about this after all the Signal leak bullshit, the Pat McAfee slander of that college girl and the deportation of the protected status immigrant because we have 2 teenage boys who will have to learn to navigate the toxic male personalities who are being elevated and celebrated in spite of their disgusting behavior and lack of accountability. It's rape culture, but broadened to a new societal norm of no remorse, no regret and fuck anyone who tries to say otherwise. There's just more of it on the toxic right that's spread fast and furious. Too many of the left leaning personalities aren't "tough" enough to gain traction or they are held to a higher standard.

Maher and I probably agree on a lot of things, but he's an arrogant prick who doesn't have the tact most of the time to gain broader support. He's like a Dan Bongino, but more intelligent, which he loves to make known. His conversation on The View is when he's at his most controlled and decent, but that's not the norm. It he was like that he would have an even broader appeal both from the left and center/center-right.
    It's a hopeless situation...

In theory, the left and the right should not be trying to acquire media in rural (or urban or any) regions. It's part of the game that the GOP is dominating, though. They're buying up the media while the Dems don't even recognize what the media is any more. Even if they did, I don't know that you have to do it in rural areas. Rural people are essentially as able to listen to Joe Rogan and use social media as anyone else. (What the dems are poor at is reaching rural people message-wise, which is tragic since the current administration is shitting on them daily).

So I agree to a point that the Dems have not played it smart reaching rural people, though when it comes to the social stuff that resonates, they really can't. Being freaked out by trans people is not really the Dems brand.

I tend to agree they do a poor job of pining actual Trump disasters to Trump whereas the GOP did a great job of pining fake Biden disasters to Biden/Harris. I think it's because they're inept, not be because they were worried about "other issues," which seems to buy into the notion that the Party of Schumer has moved "so far left" when in reality the fear-monger machine has just become so much more effective.
