The three-day release from Lake Kaweah and Lake Success by the Army Corp of Engineers was water that’s typically saved for the drier, hotter growing season, as SFGATE reported at the time.

The idea that Southern California’s overall water supply hindered firefighting efforts during the Palisades and Eaton fires has been roundly rejected by experts. And vitally, the outlets of Lake Kaweah and Lake Success, which are just west of the Sierra Nevada and manage water for farms in the eastern San Joaquin Valley, are not set up for sending water far south.

Rep. Jim Costa, a Democrat who represents a chunk of the San Joaquin Valley, wrote in a Feb. 1 letter to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth that the releases — coming as they did when there’s little demand for irrigation, as well as a low snowpack — pose “grave threats to a reliable water supply this year.”

The United States has told its allies that it does not plan to participate in military exercises in Europe, according to reports.

The move, the latest in Donald Trump's pivot away from the bloc, would see America pull out of exercises beyond those already scheduled for this year.

The withdrawal concerns exercises that are on the "drawing board", according to Swedish newspaper Expressen.

It means that Nato countries will be forced to plan exercises without the participation of the US military, the largest in the alliance.

The Army Corps of Engineers knowingly wasted 2.5 billion gallons of precious California water under instructions from the White House to take a photo and send it to Trump for a social media post.

Colonel Chad Caldwell obeyed Trump's reckless order even though he knew the LA wildfires had already been contained and the water would never reach Southern California anyway.

Senator Hillary Clinton (pre-emails and additional actions/inactions, etc that hurt her candidacy in 2016) lost the Dem primary in 2008 because of other reasons, so it's not outside the realm of possibility of her losing other elections (2016). 

I don't recall what Senator Kamala Harris's popularity was in 2020 (when she didn't have one electoral vote), so it's not outside the realm of possibility that she would lose other elections (2024).

Vice President Harris having four years of experience as VP definitely made a positive difference for her as a candidate in 2024. I don't know how she would've fared in an open primary, but if she lost, by lack of votes by Dems, would it be okay because the Dems said no thanks, but in a general election her loss is not okay?

yes, top of ticket 100 days out. a county or two in Pa and Maricopa Az are conducting an inquiry in the counting process as there were some glitches at that critical time. Fuckstick made certain statements suggesting shenanigans.

The primary thing is so funny to me. I love how these people just gloss over the fact that she was on the ticket in 2020 when they won the election.

My point is for President in 2020 there were several candidates that Democrats preferred to then Senator Harris for whatever reasons, so when it came to the presidential general election in 2024, it shouldn't be a surprise that she wasn't the preferred candidate for the same and additional reasons.

The party got behind it though. It also seems like campaign finance laws may have had something to do with it. Since she was already on the ticket, etc.

I have said it before and I will say it again. Kamala lost because her campaign was terrible. They dropped the ball.

I never thought it was the campaign. It was the process, or lack of. People don’t like her being just appointed. Even Obama wanted some sort of process and was against it at first.
Several months before Biden dropped Kamala’s approval was very low, people were even asking if Biden would stick with her. I think most knew he would, but she was disliked enough to ask. Then all of the sudden she’s the top of the ticket.
In most elections you only need to win by switching 2-3% of the voters, or not give them a reason to vote. I think not having any process and just handing it to Kamala was enough to do that.

That had to have had an impact but I do think the campaign funds were the big issue. And maybe time...was there time to go through that process? It seems like the dems came together after those issues came to light.

I’d love to see the alternate history where Biden announces in 2023 that he’s not going to seek a second term. That’s what should have happened.

Harris may have won the nomination and then the election since people would have been less put off by how she ended up at the top.  Or maybe someone else would have.  Trump also might have won regardless. But Biden really left the party in a terrible spot.

she wasnt. there was and is a process to contest her nomination. theaggreeed upon delegates representing each state had the opportunity to object or put forward another nominee of their choice. They chose to give her one of the higher delegate totals in recent history.

I wonder if those bitching even voted in the primaries to begin with. seems to me, if you didnt or dont choose to participate,  then you have ceded your voice to a small group to decide for you. I have no sympathy for non-participants.
