I'm not a particularly nostalgic person, so I sometimes have trouble connecting with older bootlegs. Don’t get me wrong—the Vault releases, the ‘98 RSD bootleg, and the 2000, 2003, 2005 and 2006 are fantastic. But at this point, they feel so far removed from where the band is today that I usually find myself gravitating toward newer bootlegs to get a sense of “current” PJ—and, more importantly, mostly current Ed (his voice has changed, after all). I feel the same way about Bruce shows. As amazing as those 1978 recordings are, I don’t really have a personal connection to them—I tend to enjoy them more the way I’d enjoy a history documentary.
And just for the record—things weren’t always better back in the day. Haha!Post edited by marumaruko on------------------------------
