The next time they come to Boston I am hell bent on being first in line to get center rail. I will camp 3 nights if necessary. How do I know where to go to start the line?0 -

Ive seen this since 2000.
Literally the same folks.
It has to be a number thingI think part of the issue is that @Chrrie and I are the few people from the regular campers that are active on the forum. So many of you forum regulars don’t know the others. But most of you know who I am and I hope my explanation helps a little.0 -

But usually with the line, in my experience it is started around or near the venue. The first person will ask someone at the venue where the best place to go is. Once in a blue moon like in Atlanta they let us line up on the sidewalk right against the venue. Otherwise, it is usually across the street or somewhere very nearby. When I arrive, I generally walk around the venue area to see where I see people. Once a line is started people usually post on Facebook to tell others where to go.As far as the wristband thing. I have seen it happen on occasion. It happens with every other band I have seen as well. However, most of the time the wristbands have to be cut off - they are put on pretty tight. I have small wrists so mine can slip off, but another person would likely not be able to fit in it. I have never given mine to another person. So, if they are doing that - I am not sure how that works.

Are the crowds tamer in the US? I’ve been on the rail a bit for a couple shows in Europe and the crowds constantly jumping around. I moved to the rail for a bit, then moved back. Felt more organic than just people stood at the rail for the whole show not moving. Also, it’s GA so anyone can get anywhere, it’s the way it is. Can’t fault people wanting to queue early. Personally I can’t imagine anything worse than queuing 24hr+ just to be the rail for a show when you could rock up and get pretty close, but each to their own.
And anyone who queues more than 10mins for merch I can’t comprehend 😂 but again, each to their own.0 -
Just spitballing a bit here:
Rail accommodates approximately 40 people.
Line up as everyone already does.
Whomever is in line at (example) 12pm gets a ticket.
Draw 20 numbers (20 ticket holders and their +1 - single ticket holders mean another ticket is drawn).
Those people go to the front of the line.
People who line up first get no worse than 2nd row. There is some randomness to it all. Others have a better chance."A smart monkey doesn't monkey around with another monkey's monkey" - Darwin's Theory0 -

@GlowGirl: Thanks for taking the time to expand on your viewpoint and giving the rest of us an idea of what it takes to be on the rail. It's not easy to become the stand-in for a whole group of people and defending your viewpoint without becoming super-defensive and lash out. You did an admirable job, thanks!

My ticket buddy got GA for three shows in the lottery. I ended up not being able to go to one of the shows that I got in the lottery, so that was four shows where the tickets I used came from the lottery. Then I traded a reserved seat for a GA for one show. The person I traded with preferred seats over GA. I also traded my reserved FL2 seats for Pitt2 GA with a friend who couldn't make Pitt, but could go to Florida. I didn't need those Florida seats since my ticket buddy got GA for those. For the other two shows, two different friends had an extra GA that they offered me. Over the years I have made a lot of nice friends here. I don't just interact with people here about tickets. I am active on a lot of different threads here and have been involved in a really nice network of people who help each other out. We text each other off this site, and keep in touch between tours, and have friendships that are not only about the band.I also helped people get GA this tour as well. At the last minute my friend could not go to Florida. He texted me to ask if I knew anyone who wanted his tickets. I set him up with a friend of mine to drop a link and they got them. Since I ended up not being able to attend Raleigh, I gave my GA tickets that I got in the lottery to friends. We all help each other out. I have seen it over and over again on the forum.Every interaction I had with GA tickets this year was through friends I personally know from this forum or from meeting at different shows, etc. I did not have to share logins with random people, etc. This is not the case every year, but this is how I got my GA's this year. Also, those two GA shows I got in the lottery was the first time I ever got GA from the lottery. That was very exciting.I have been most active on the boards around 2011 - 2014 but I also made lots of friends that I am still in touch with off and online. There are not just fans on here, they exist outside the boards too. Sometimes life gets busy and you are not on the boards as much. I married a fellow fan I met here, so now we get to talk in person every day, for example. This whole comment once again comes off as "we put in the work, so we deserve". We all "deserve". No matter if you are on here a lot or not. No matter even if you have a lot of PJ friends or not. I put in for the lottery every tour and only got GA (or tickets at all) a handful of times. I am excited to be in the building. They should check ticket tour stats to make it so that people who may not have gotten anything in the past will get some fanclub tickets every so often too.(This is not an attack on you, I am just also giving a little perspective on how other people may see things.)

I genuinely do not care how many times someone gets GA or rail, as long as they respect the line. My experience is that a large group of people have a few show up at the line at the start of the day and the rest of the crew continuously appears throughout the day and will act like they were always there. The problem is that no one cares. And line cutters know it. Enforcing line rules is very low on everyone's priority list.0 -
THE REAL question to me
is this crew wealthy or piss poor....
Seams like one or the other....I always say us middle/ upper middles are always getting fucked by those 2 demographics0 -
