Nice I have 2 to be delivered. Would be a nice surprise to get before Christmas. I do expect Canada Post to charge duty on everything coming in now to make up on lost revenue.
I think it's the CBSA that reviews for duty, not Canada Post.  Canada post just collects it.  I'm guessing they've got a pretty big backlog and customs will be overwhelmed.  I predict the opposite and they'll let a bunch of stuff slide.
I'm super stoked, tracking updated today, CBSA released it to Canada Post.  Usually in normal circumstances it would take a day or two to get here from Richmond, but give the backlog, maybe it'll get here before Christmas :)

I should note, I was wrong and mretzooc was right.  I'll owe just over $33 in taxes/brokerage :)

I think you got something, extra. Few friends in Ontario & Quebec have fees of $23 dollars on their mystery pages. One of mine was $26.

So the posties started back today and the wife said the mailman delivered mail to neighbours on both sides of us and to the people across the street and we got nothing. Hard to believe in the 5 weeks I didn’t receive any mail 😂
I can honestly say if it wasn't for the mystery bags I'd not have noticed this strike at all...benefits of living in the city I guess....glad the rural communities will get their meds, cheques, gifts and mystery bags now!

My UPS tracking has been stuck on 11/12/2024, departed international facility. Does that mean that it’s somewhere in Canada and it hasn’t been scanned in?

I don't think so.  On mine, the UPS tracking eventually showed the USPS tracking number which I could use on the Canada Post Website.   There  was an entry on Nov 14 that it arrived in Canada and was being submitted to Canada Customs for review.

I think mine just crossed the border when the strike started.  I wonder if yours is in a USPS warehouse in the US where it got stashed waiting for Canada to accept international packages again.

Maybe! The strike did start on the 15th. High possibility that your theory is the accurate.

     International mail and parcels

    • Canada Post will work to process a significant accumulation of international mail and parcels currently queued up to enter the postal system.
    • Customers should expect delays into 2025.
    • The postal system will start accepting new international mail on December 23.

Most likely from Customs agents processing them under different categories which all incur different levels of duty.

I guess, but most of the time we don't pay duty, we pay our provincial/federal/harmonized sales tax? I think they charge $15 to calculate the tax, so it means I paid about $13 in tax.  Tax rate in bc is 7 percent PST and 5% GST, and I paid $18 in tax, the package must be valued around 150 cad?

No disrespect to em cuz they’re incredibly busy, but they screw up constantly and charge duty where it shouldn’t be charged. All stems from incorrectly coding the package to a category that incurs duty which it doesn’t necessarily belong to.

Fair enough.  I've only run into Duty charges once (opposed to PST/GST which is somewhat common).   It was on a pair of shoes I imported from the US.  They were made in another country so I got charged Duty on them.    Only package I've seen in my 30 years of stuff crossing the border that they assess duty.

Oh well, I'm just happy the mystery box is going to show up somewhat soonish.

Mine is still sitting in Uslaxa since 29th of November.  Hopefully moves in next couple days. On side note was able to order a copy of RSD release that should be to me by Monday so I’ll take the little win for now

Yeah shoes and clothing made outside North America are near the top of the list for highest duty charged at around 20%. Shoes they seem to flag almost every time but clothes get ignored more often. Scandinavian tobacco they’re absolutely ruthless on 😂

Yes! We got movement! Delivery expected December 23!🤞 happy festivus!

I checked the alternate tracking number on USPS and Canada Post, it seems that the UPS tracking stopped tracking once it exchanged services. It doesn’t tell me how much it weighs but the extra fees are $34.

My tracking has it showing up in my city this morning.  Hopefully that means it's delivered in the next business day or two.   I have noticed delivery dates do get updated and postponed right now. most likely due to the backlog causing it to be a bigger slog than normal.

Yep. Checked on a few items from Canada Post. They were to be delivered tomorrow. This morning received emails that those items are delayed, till next week.

Wow, both my stuck packages, the mystery bag and another item both arrived today.   They must of been so close to arriving before the strike hit :)

My XL has finally moved, still no details via Canada Post, so I assume it’s still in the US. The wife’s WL is still hasn’t moved since 23rd. Hoping today I get a little more movement on both. Hoping for an Xmas miracle
