  • So what’s everyone eating tonight? The night before thanksgiving, I was thinking Chinese but my wife decided on beef stew, carrots, mushrooms, potatoes, onions and all good spices!

    Big Boy Burgers!!

Personally I think that should be the traditional Thanksgiving dinner.
    Take me piece by piece.....

    Raw onions, not grilled
    Swiss cheese, not American.

We go to my sister's house.
Basic traditional meal for the most part

Turkey (fresh kill I get from work)
    Gravy,
    Mashed Potatoes
    Stuffing
    Peas
    Candied Yams
    Dinner Rolls
And my brother-in-law makes the vilest broccoli casserole and generally he's the only one who eats any of it.

A couple of pies and such for dessert, always including chocolate cream pie.
Let's hear more of this vile broccoli dish you speak of. Wtf is in it?
It's similar to the vile green been casserole.

I believe it cosmists of broccoli, cream of mushroom soup and cheese. Looks like vomit in a casserole.
    This sounds so gross.
While I started a thread years ago about the disgusting choice for a side that is GBC, my nutters sister in law out-grosses the GBC idea each year.
She is one of the worst cooks imaginable.  Subs out ingredients that are vital and brags about it.  (When it makes her awful food, worse.)
Everyone is nice and eats it, but my wife and I are in fits of laughter, after hosting duties are done.
Wonder what dishes she ruins this year?
Last year it was sweet potatoes...some sort of mash up / soupy sort of monstrosity that tasted nether sweet nor potatoes.   *sorta tasted like what I imagine eating what it looked like would taste like....a shit pie.

Hosting only 8. GF, and without some strong spices my wife cannot tolerate.
    Turkey
    Stuffing
    Mashed potatoes
    Gravy
    Rolls

Relatives bring other sides and desserts.  I stopped making more of those because they brought even when I asked them not to bring.
No more 7 cheese, award winning, Mac n chee.  Fuck right off! Lol

I'll start drinking beer early in the day and have a nice buzz by the time it is just 3 of us again.
    Then I will be thankful.

I managed to get off my ass and brine the turkey last night. Super simple this year. No more store runs!
    Turkey
    Cornbread/sausage stuffing
    Mashed sweet and regular potatoes
    Giblet gravy
    Cranberry sauce
And yes, the beloved green bean casserole. I make double and buy extra fried onions.
Salad (I am too old to eat all brown stuff, but nothing fancy, greens in a bowl with dressing). Otherwise my wife will make me drink one of her green drinks. Which I find more offensive than the green bean casserole.
Apple pie with vanilla ice cream.

I hope you all enjoy the holiday, no matter what you eat or do on this day of thanks.

Got a turkey from work, dry salt brine in fridge now. Spatchcocked it. Will do on the grill. Came out good last year. Have done brussel sprouts, mashed potatoes, stuffing. Maybe some carrots if my garden wants to give a few up. Time with a couple people and animals i love the most. Will be a nice quiet day.
    Enjoy it!
I'm sure you don't take it for granted. I'm reminding myself not to. ❤️
I am VERY interested in how this comes out.
    looks darn good.
    Happy Thanksgiving all

I f..ked it up a little. I have these chipolte peps and crushed them all over. Could have done without. No biggie. I used a lot of dried dill I had and that added a nice flavor.

Yes that’s not good I guess you won’t be going out for thanksgiving dinner next year!
My son just called me his life is a disaster too! But not because of not having leftovers he took plenty from my house last night but rather because his toilet is clogged or the pump is not working properly! He has a basement apartment and he had plans to make gingerbread cookies with his girlfriend! Landlord said not use any water no shower no kitchen sink his plans are ruined for today plumber is not getting there till tomorrow morning tonight he crashes here 😂

I had plumbing issues as well. But we have leftovers. Thinking about turkey hash and maybe turkey enchiladas. I have done enchiladas the past 5 years. Great way to use up the turkey when you are sick of sandwiches, salads and wraps.

My daughter did the turkey last night here at our house! By far the best turkey we’ve had it was an organic turkey I’m not sure what that means but she brined it overnight and it was just so damn good, I usually never eat 2nd helpings but just couldn’t resist 😋
