The Trump administration is exploring dramatic cuts to programs
and staff at the U.S. Department of Education, including executive
action shuttering department programs that are not protected by law and
calling on Congress to close the department entirely.
The
executive action could come as early as this week, according to multiple
government sources who were not cleared to discuss the administration's
plans publicly.
The White House did not respond to a request for comment.
This
potential executive action comes after the Trump administration, in
recent days, placed dozens of Education Department staff members on paid
administrative leave with little explanation, saying only that the
moves were the result of President Trump's executive action targeting federal diversity programs.
Taken
together, the news has unsettled department staff and is sure to come
up in the Senate confirmation hearing for Trump's nominee to be
education secretary, Linda McMahon. That hearing has not yet been
scheduled.
The department, with roughly 4,400 employees and an
annual budget of $79 billion, has broad responsibility over three major
areas: managing approximately $1.6 trillion in federal student loan
debt, overseeing implementation and enforcement of the nation's special
education law, and administering Title I, the main federal program aimed
at improving outcomes for lower-income students.

my great-niece is Autistic. Her mother and father are maga. They already struggle with appropriate lesson plannning BUT she has come along way with a lot of effort.
My niece seems to think abolishing DOE would be a good thing. Havent had but the broad discussion, but would love her thoughts or insight on what her daughters educational opportunities look like after fed funding and enforcement gets pulled.

So my wife works for a 3rd party provider that does case review for various state medicaid depts. ensuring that the state isnt being overbilled and the claims to be paid are for proper medical necessity. Flip side is working with the providers to ensure they are submitting the necessary documentation to be paid. often times the state claws back money for a savings of which part goes to her company.
Now it once was an immigrant could apply and receive emergency medicaid to be covered for hospital visits and the like. that will be over in due course. what will occur is the sponsors of these immigrants will have their income considered, even if divorced, and wages garnished to defray the costs of medicaid for these immigrants with legal status here through the proper channels.
heres what will happen. by law no hospital can turn away a patient based on insurance or no insurnace. they WILL get treated. Guess who bears the cost of that? the hosiptal systems? no, the insurance companies will see a rise in claims or costs to mitagate those costs to the hospitals as has always been done. and who is do you think these same insurance companies will pass THOSE costs onto?

(NEXSTAR) – Waffle House restaurants across the nation will be adding
a 50-cent surcharge to every egg ordered amid soaring prices due to
inflation and the bird flu epidemic.
The surcharge took effect Monday, according to a Waffle House memo shared with Nexstar.
“The continuing egg shortage caused by HPAI (Bird Flu) has caused a
dramatic increase in egg prices,” the memo reads. “Consumers and
restaurants are being forced to make difficult decisions. Effective
February 3, Waffle House has implemented a temporary .50 per egg
surcharge to all menus.”

I wonder what all the morons on the far left who didn't vote for Kamala over Gaza are thinking tonight.
Or people who didn't vote at all. "Oh, oops, now a billionaire owns the whole fucking country. Guess I should have voted."
(buzzer sound) Too late!
Yep.
I saw Rashida Tlaib going off on Trump on twitter tonight. This fucking lady was essentially calling Biden Genocide Joe last year. She's partly to blame for Kamala losing Michigan.
These fucking idiots have to take some accountability for this calamity of shit they helped usher back into control of the world. Trump was literally saying he wanted to turn it into a beachfront resort last year and they still protested during Kamala's speeches because she wasn't tough enough against Israel.
And of course the son in law who raked in 2 billion from the Saudis after declaring peace in the region now wants to spearhead the whole thing. But, but what about Hunter?!?!?!?
