Well shit.   The good news indicates my mystery box just hit the border and is being review by customs.  The bad news is Canada Post just went on strike so it's not going anywhere anytime soon.

This totally sucks! Not a fan of unions.
Unions are great. I wish I was in one.
I love it! I'm not sure why people are against unions. Well, the common folk anyhow.
demetrios, not the reveal I thought I’d see here. As a former VP of a teacher’s union and current member of a teacher’s union, I’d gladly delay material gratification to improve the lives of others. In other news, my shipment weighs 7.31478932750390286183459 kg. I wonder what it could be?
I'm guessing a bat or a growler maybe? Either way, seems like a good one!!!

I enjoyed my time in a union, but the protections provided to egregiously dead weight are a major issue.

If you are in favor of a 40 work week, paid vacations, paid sick time, child labor laws, health benefits and at least a dozen other work related benefits then you should probably thank union members who made those items a reality for millions of workers.  Union and non-union alike.

The prices go up anyway. In my experience, ownership charges as much as the market will bear, and then put as much in their own pockets as they can get away with. And HR is there to protect them from lawsuits, not us from the company. Unions are a godsend.

There's a sports team near me that had ticket prices that were criminally under-priced. As a result, a lot of people would scalp them for sometimes 10x as much.

Ticket prices were raised to prices closer to market prices...naturally, a lot of the older fan-base revolted because a lot of people felt they should have those premium tickets for what they always paid for.

Of course, when tickets for some games are $120 face value instead of $39 or $75 face value, it puts money back into the organization... which isn't a bad thing.

So, for sports teams charging market value...it's absolutely fair.

As an example: If Yankee tickets topped out at 1985 prices, they obviously wouldn't be able to compete AND regular people would making the money that could have been invested into the roster.

I really don't want to see the Venn Diagram of "Pay the SAG/WGA strikers what they're worth" and the number of people who pirate that content, knowing they'd still pirate broadcast TV when an antenna is an option or they'd still pirate Netflix if it was $10/yr.

They never blame the corporations that make huge profits and still raise prices while keeping wages low and giving their CEOs millions in raises.

My dad was an electrician and had some horror stories over the years. There's good and there's bad. Anyone reflexively pro-union is typically an insufferable drone.
