just a coincidence get the fuck out of here with that apologist fucking bullshit.
So were the dozens of threats here and 7 arrests just in my kids' school district Trump related too? It's a legitimate question, school threats via social media was a big thing last week. Several districts in east Tennessee were impacted with threats, as well as some in Kentucky that were covered by our local news. A lot of places outside Ohio were experiencing the same thing at the same time.
33 in the same town, called out in the debate. You're being a little silly here with the skepticism. It's obviously related.
The city I live in has half the population of Springfield. There were dozens of threats and 7 arrests last week. Our neighboring town has a population of 10k, they had multiple threats and 4 arrests last week. Every district, school and city in the area experienced the same thing. Multiple threats and most had multiple arrests as a result. So for every city it was just another week, but for Springfield it was because of the debate?
It's clearly related to trump's comments otherwise there wouldn't be so many. He put Springfield on the map with his bullshit.
How many schools in Columbus received threats? Dayton? Cleveland?
Where do you live mace? Did the news report on these threats? Did your governor order state troopers to patrol the schools like what happened in Ohio?
I live in eastern TN. No he didn't. Yes, there were several news reports. Local news even mentioned numerous threats in Kentucky. Local police also made statements addressing the issue. School districts sent multiple notifications home on multiple days last week addressing the issue. I received several from my work and several from where my kids attend. Multiple arrests have been made for terroristic threats. I posted earlier today the neighboring town of 1 high school and 10,000 residents had multiple threats and 4 arrests. The city I live in where my kids go, a population about half of Springfield had multiple threats and 7 arrests. MY district I work in had dozens of threats targeting several schools specifically and just vague threats towards the district. I haven't heard how many arrests were made, but I know there were some based on the emails sent out. Any student caught making threats will be charged with a crime and suspended 180 days. There's probably 8 or 10 districts within an hour drive of here. Most, if not all, experienced some threats last week. It starts as a rumor, or reposting of an old threat from a year ago. Then that gets reposted and reposted and the rumor grows. Then new ones start showing up. Then they start naming specific schools. This all snowballs and explode in about 24-48 hours. Kids being stupid. They think it's funny or want to get school closed for the day. I'm glad they take it seriously and arrest those involved. Last week wasn't the first time I've seen it with threats. And I've seen it with other things every year. I am not convinced these threats online were because of the debate. So while yes the timing makes it very easy to blame trump and the debate, the reality is these things happen unfortunately. It happened at many school outside Ohio last week. And a likely scenario is one threat in Springfield gets more attention because of the current issues and blaming trump, more attention draws more copycats and more threats. I don't know for sure that is what happened, or it is unrelated to the debate. But that sure seems just as plausible to me. Probably even more likely so given my experience and the how widespread school threats were last week at the same time. We didn't make national news, but we had about 70% of our student population not attend school because of the threats. It's not a good story when you can't blame a presidential candidate, so it wasn't covered like it was in Ohio. But there were many threats over a wide range of schools.
*That's how it started at my school last week. I don't know about the others around here. But old threats were reposted or shared with comments like "I'm not going to school tomorrow!" on Monday. It gets reposted and reposted. The police investigated, determined they were old posts from over a year ago, sent statements out and emails out. Then on Tuesday new posts emerge. Those get shared and reposted. The more it gets talked about, the more new posts are created. Police and the district issue statements that they are aware and investigating and have not determined any threats to be credible. On Wednesday it's even worse with more than half the school refusing to come in.
Where do you live mace? Did the news report on these threats? Did your governor order state troopers to patrol the schools like what happened in Ohio?

Yeah.
You know who I trust more this, Mace? The mayor of the town and the governor of the state that's experiencing the threats.
How many pretzels have you twisted yourself in over the last decade trying to excuse Trump from the inexcusable? You should know better by now.

So you think dozens of other districts experiencing the same thing is just a coincidence then? Springfield is targeted because of trump, and everywhere else is just a coincidence? I'm not trying to excuse trump. I think what he said made him sound not only stupid, but gullible and crazy. I think that comment cost him the election. I'm sure there are attacks on the immigrants there because of this. I just don't see these school threats that are happening elsewhere too are one of them. Not everything that goes wrong is trumps fault.

ok but that's Troy...and it says there were no threats. It does discuss threats made to Springfield though
It's a suburb of Dayton. And they released this statement: "None of the threats have been deemed credible. We are actively working with HHPD to investigate these vague threats to the greatest extent possible. This communication is not intended to alarm anyone, however it is important to keep our community informed that we take any threat against our district seriously and work closely with HHPD to ensure that our students, staff and buildings remain a safe and conducive learning environment." No credible threats doesn't mean no threats. I assume none of the Springfield threats were credible either, since no schools blew up.

Someone should ask their colleagues how many bomb threats their school and district received, on average per semester and school year, for the past 20 years. I’m willing to bet the total doesn’t come close to the past two weeks.

After reading into it more, I will say I am at least partially wrong. I was trying to see if I could find specific examples of the threats when I came across the following.
However, the governor did say that many of the emails originated from the same foreign country in an attempt to "mess with the United States." So this may be the result of foreign interference as much as people targeting immigrants.

This is one of the dumbest discussions that's ever happened here. lol
I’ll say the stamina people have to go through the daily mental gymnastics to defend and rationalize Trump is impressive.
I consider it pathetic.
I’m trying to be nice 🙂
I'm way past that. Plus I haven't had enough coffee today.
Same here (on both accounts, actually, haha!) Yeah, I cut MAGAs no slack whatsoever. There is not one single excuse in the world to support the likes of Trump and Vance. Not one.

We should work backwards and try to find out why foreigners who want to interfere would suddenly target Springfield, OH.

Those threats came after Springfield landed in the national spotlight over its Haitian immigration tensions, especially in the wake of baseless claims against immigrants going viral on social media and being shared by top Republican politicians including former President Donald Trump and U.S. Sen. and vice presidential candidate JD Vance." https://www.springfieldnewssun.com/news/springfield-cancels-culturefest-citing-safety-concerns-due-to-threats/DRIWTZSROVCW7OEOTU6TGWQ4LY/
Springfield Hospitals are also receiving threats. https://www.chiefhealthcareexecutive.com/view/springfield-hospitals-among-growing-recipients-of-threats

I assumed the threats were posted on social media. Looks like they emailed threats directly to schools and other facilities.
