A couple easy ones: People Have the Power - Buffalo 2003 Daughter / It's OK - Jones Beach 2000
Long Road 3/29/98 - Ed & Jeff with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan or PJ 7/7/2006 with dedication to Clayton Liggett.
You could pick any version of any song from the MSG shows 9/11/98, 7/8/2003, or 5/21/2010 and not be wrong.
Don’t sleep on the Daughter/WMA/It’s OK from 08/10/18 Seattle. IMO it surpassed Jones Beach.
Good call - I caught Daughter/WMA/It's OK at Fenway 2018. Ed was a little clearer on the vocals of It's OK in 2018. JB 2000 version still gives me goosebumps. Hearing that live and in the moment was definitely one of those "Holy Shit, Something Special Is Happening" moments!
2. Ottawa 2005 3. Mexico City 3 2003 4. Los Angeles 1998 5. Prague 2006
*I could probably choose five performances from just the 2000 tour (Boise and Seattle are outstanding but KC tops them both for me)
I should mention State College 2003 and MSG 2010 but they both have a lot of crowd singing and I, respectfully, prefer to listen to EV sing the majority of the lyrics.
Best Why Go performances… 1. Atlanta 1994 2. Bologna 2006 3. San Francisco 2006 4. Mansfield 2003 5. Stockholm 2012 6. Edmonton 2011
* I feel that I’m forgetting an earlier version or two. Drop In The Park? Melbourne 1995?
Sthlm 2012 is a great (ten heavy boot) but never thought about why go standing out. Will have to locate my CD boot.
The Boston 2003 I remember Jeffs bass being very pronounced in the mix in a great way.
Why Go was kind of ”rare” in 2000/2003 if I remember it right
I don’t think Why Go was played at all after 1995 until they broke it out in Bristow 2003 (similar rendition as Mansfield 2003).
For reasons I won’t get into here, I’m a big fan of the 2011 Canadian and 2012 European bootlegs so my choices will likely have a slight “lean” towards those performances.
Best performances of Hail Hail (not including Letterman)… 1. Berlin 1996 2. Los Angeles 1998 3. Cincinnati 2006 4. Sacramento 1998 (LO2L) 5. Landgraaf 2000
I know this one is impossible because there are SOO many good ones out there, but what about Given To Fly? This one is more recent but Italy, 6/25/2022 is up there for me. the build-up leading to "Keely let me see them" gets me every time!

Yeah, Given To Fly is tough...the later "pacing" issue can be a bit of a problem so I tend to go with earlier performances. 1. Melbourne 1998 2. Washington DC 1998 3. Los Angeles 1998 4. Milan 2000 5. Cleveland 2003 6. London 2010 7. Vancouver 2011
I think Untitled/MFC from Camden 9/2/2000 is just perfect. Soon Forget, not so much.
Spectrum 10/27/09; New Orleans JazzFest 5/1/10; Made in America 9/2/12; WF Center 10/21/13; WF Center 10/22/13; Baltimore 10/27/13; WF Center 4/28/16; WF Center 4/29/16; Fenway Park 8/7/16; Fenway Park 9/2/18; Asbury Park 9/18/21; Camden 9/14/22; Las Vegas 5/16/24; Las Vegas 5/18/24; WF Center 9/7/24; WF Center 9/9/24; Baltimore Arena 9/12/24
Tres Mtns - TLA 3/23/11; EV - Tower Theatre 6/25/11; Temple of the Dog - Tower Theatre 11/5/16
Release and Oceans were both performed in Seattle in 2018... not sure if they'll be played there this year. An excuse to list the best (ie, my favourite) live versions of each....
Release 1. 2003 Bonner Springs (hi, dad) 2. 2006 Verona 3. 1994 Atlanta 4. 1995 Chicago 5. 2000 Seattle Also, 1998 Melbourne, 2011 Buenos Aires, and 2012 Manchester UK.
Oceans 1. San Diego 2006 2. Orpheum 1994 3. West Palm Beach 2000 4. Mansfield 2003 5. Vancouver 2013 Also, Den Haag (maybe the best but not an official recording), Melbourne 2009, and, of course, Unplugged 1992.
One final special mention to Detroit 2014 where these two songs opened the show! WOW!
