Songs Crossed Off Setlists

Okay, might be a sore topic, but which songs do you remember being crossed off setlists.

I really wanted to hear Rivercross, but it was (river)crossed off the Sea Hear Now set and MSG 2022, and now I think it might be done if there is no organ onstage.

Do you recall any songs being crossed off a set? It's also interesting to see some songs being replaced by another instead of making a setlist one less song.

I’m Open crossed off at Fort Worth N2. Would have liked to hear it just to check it off. Played Brain Damage instead.

9/17/11 and 9/8/05. YLed. On setlist, not played both nights. Still haven't heard it.

and if you can believe this, also from Sept 8/05:

Light Years", "U", and "Yellow Ledbetter" were on the setlist, but were not played. "Deep", "Alone", "Bee Girl", and "Go" were listed as alternates.

Swallowed Whole", "The End", "I Am Mine", and "Got Some" were written on the setlist, but were replaced with "I Got Id", "Last Kiss" (Wayne Cochran), and "Setting Forth" (Eddie Vedder)

Not the same thing, but at Hyde Park in 2022 Ed gave the crowd the choice of hearing Not For You or Whipping. I voted for Whipping, but Not for You got the much louder response, so that is what was played.

September 8 2022 Toronto, Leash and Yellow Ledbetter. They weren’t replaced with other songs, I think they were just running out of time. I haven’t heard these live yet, I’ve only seen 7 shows.

Uniondale 2003: "Note: "Smile", "Soldier of Love" (Arthur Alexander), and "Indifference" were on the setlist, but were not played due to the large amounts of boos from the audience. Ouch for indifference.

MSG 7/9/03: Note: "Can't Keep" and "In Hiding" were listed as alternatives to "Crazy Mary" and "Given to Fly", respectively. "Footsteps", "Leatherman", "Down", "Off He Goes", "Last Kiss", "Sleight of Hand", "Fortunate Son", "Leaving Here", "Animal", and "Soldier of Love" were on the written setlist but none of them were played.  Big Ouch, still haven't seen Can't Keep.

    Spectrum 10/30/09:
Note: "Brother" was on the printed setlist, but not played. Big Ouch, still haven't seen it.

MSG 5/21/10: Note: "Out of My Mind" and "Rockin' in the Free World" were on the setlist, but were replaced with "Rats" and "Kick Out the Jams."  Push

    PJ20 9/3/11:
Note: "All Those Yesterdays", "Present Tense", "I Got Id", "Down", "Crown of Thorns" (Mother Love Bone), and "Indifference" were on the setlist, but were not played. Big Ouch and Indifference again.

    PJ20 9/4/11:
Note: "Crown of Thorns" (Mother Love Bone) and "The Real Me" (The Who) were on the setlist, but were not played. Ouch

    Charlottesville 10/29/13:
Note: "Fatal" was on the setlist, but was skipped. Gutted and still haven't seen it.

    Charlotte 10/30/13:
Note: "My Father's Son", "Speed of Sound", Let the Records Play", "Wash", "Leash", "Crazy Mary" (Victoria Williams), and "Leaving Here" (Edward Holland, Jr.) were on the setlist, but were not played. Half oh well/ half Ouch

Raleigh 2016 and Baltimore 2020: entire shows cancelled. Gutted

    Austin 9/18/23:
Note: "Amongst the Waves" was on the setlist, but not played. "Spin the Black Circle" was not on the setlist. Ouch, one of my favorites.

P.S.: This didn't take as long as you might think :)

Worcester N1 2013 Sleight of Hand I think
Fenway N1 and N2 had a ton scratched. Comeback at the time hurt the most. I have heard it a couple of times since though and well worth the wait!

Same as 2018 with Fenway only to play the a lot of the scratched N1 into N2. Took some of the fun away knowing what was coming

Not really looking forward to Fenway as much as the other shows this year knowing how rushed they get.

I was disappointed with the voting public. I hadn't seen Whipping before, but had already seen Not For You. I ended up seeing Whipping at a later show, so it all worked out.

Krakow 2018 had a rowdy pit. Black was supposed to come on next but they pulled an audible and played Whipping by instead. It was wild and def added to the show.

I chased Footsteps for years. Had it scratched a few times, missed it by a show a few others. Scratched at Worcester 2 in 2013 really hurt.

Finally got it in St Louis the next year.

    - Crazy Mary the first time I got a rail spot, plastic cups were about to be distributed and it was clear a chance at wine was a possibility. Probably my first and only chance at that happening

    - Anytime Red Mosquito is crossed off, think it happened to me 2-3 times during the ballpark tours

a great memorable show, but seeing hard to imagine and especially strangest tribe crossed off was a tough break. parachutes would have been nice, too, as i've not seen that one live and seem to miss it by one show fairly frequently.

Not a setlist cross off, but they sound checked In Hiding at bridge '99 and it did not make the set list cut.

I was at the Spectrum and wanted to hear Brother. Here’s hoping that they play it in Philly this time around. A boy can dream! 🙏🏻
They played brother that year in Chicago amazing performance. Sucks that this song is such a problem with the band and will probably never be really played again.

Not the same thing, but at Hyde Park in 2022 Ed gave the crowd the choice of hearing Not For You or Whipping. I voted for Whipping, but Not for You got the much louder response, so that is what was played.
I was literally just listening to that very moment. Who chooses not for you over whipping. I was a whipping voter
I was disappointed with the voting public. I hadn't seen Whipping before, but had already seen Not For You. I ended up seeing Whipping at a later show, so it all worked out.

This Baltimore setlist was a real heartbreaker. Breakerfall was one of the ones I wanted to hear most at the time too. Luckily I got it 3 years later in Philly, but I’m 16 shows in now and still waiting on Down and Glorified G. Swallowed Whole too, but not too bummed about that one.

Go to Boston for Down. They play it every time they are there lately.
