As far as the Sphere goes - no rumors, just information to digest:
1) Ed visited the sphere twice during the U2 residency.
2) At LV1, Ed polled the audience as to how many travelled to the show, and how many were locals. After the crowd responded, he looked toward somebody in the wings off to the side of the stage and said something to the effect of ’See, about 50-50. About half travelled for the show.’ Then he confirmed the band heard him by looking around the stage.
3) Later in the evening of LV1, Ed made a quick comment about being back next year.
4) The big screen behind the stage sure was Sphere-esque, the way they used it.

I have yet to get to Rogers Centre, Progressive Field, or Truist Park on my ballpark tour, so I'd probably travel to any of these if the schedules lined up. Honestly, I feel spoiled being in Chicago, having them here each of the last two years and a quick trip to St. Louis before that. Five shows in three years without needing a flight. Made up for three years with nothing, but we all went through that.
Rogers Centee would be a terrible disservice to the fan and band. Probably the worst sound for a stadium venue. Downsview outdoors would be best for all involved, but won’t happen.
Rogers Center is a bomb shelter masquerading as a baseball stadium. If a nuclear holocaust actually happens and I was in toronto, I know where I would hide. There's more concrete in that one building that most major US cities.
So yea, of course the acoustics are fucking terrible.
ScotiaBank or bust... my only memories of downsview are the TTH on Canada Day, and I want to keep it that way. Budweiser stage I can deal with, but with the ongoing construction in the area, I'd prefer not to visit again until they're done.
I'm formally campaigning (willing) 2 spring dates in March or April for my next T.O trip... can't wait! Gonna be a blast!
Hamilton > Scotiabank Arena >> Rogers Centre. Not quite sure if they are done the renovation of the arena in Hamilton, but it was great last time.
Rogers Centre has been completely redone for baseball and is much improved. As a concert venue, it is horrible.
First Ontario Centre in Hamilton is scheduled to reopen November 2025. Currently renovations are on schedule.

Sphere rumors are coming to fruition?? I know I tossed it out a a joke months ago someone know someone who might have whispered something??
Sphere is 100% happening, only reason I believed it way back is it's been the talk of some insiders in Vegas for a year or more now. Along with the visits to the Sphere, think someone also posted PJ visited the Sphere studio in Burbank, add in the testing the waters with the video backdrop this tour and the two shows per city to get a feel for whether a residency works(and heavy on the west coast dates) and it seems to all add up.

Correct. That's where they filmed the music video for Dark Matter.

What time of year would they likely play the sphere?
I don’t think it would matter with the weather in Vegas. Dead and Company finished up a long residency there. Fans said they keep it cold inside.

It would probably all depend on how many shows they are willing to do and how those shows are going to be spread out. I think U2 had it to be 2 shows back to back on the weekend and 1 to 2 during the week. That lasted from late September to early March of this year I believe? (Jesus Christ, it's been a year of the sphere already?!)
U2 also played 40 shows, which I don't expect PJ to do.
I want to see so many Sphere shows. That's a PJ week right there. Give me all the No Code, Yield, Vs, Dark Matter shows!! What if they played Lost Dogs all the way though too. Wow that would be cool.

I think this begs the question.... would it be an Album celebration show? U2 basically did that by playing Achtung Baby all the way through and mainly having the "big" visuals that went viral on social media only for those songs and their staples they play at every show. They would take a break mid way through the album set and play a mini set of songs that had little to no visuals and only lights, including some songs they hadn't played in years up until that point. U2 were also only playing 22 songs a night during their residency and somehow stretched it to a 2 and a half hour show.
I think it would be on brand to have the Sphere shows tie into Dark Matter somehow.. They could play all of Dark Matter (minus Got To Give if thats a problem....) and have all the visuals be for those tracks. Staples like Alive, Even Flow, Rockin In The Free World, Ledbetter, and Baba could get their own visuals, and that would leave about 5-6 songs that get changed each night... When you think about it, thats basically how they've been touring this year anyway...
They could apply that thinking to any of their albums though. Do 13 nights and play each of the albums all the way through... This would cause ticket prices to be through the roof though, and they would have to spend MONTHS planning out all of the visuals, which I don't forsee happening.

Wouldn't be the first time PJ's music would have been performed at the Sphere.

It will be interesting to see what Pearl Jam would do with the Sphere. U2's screen show was amazing. It was really creative and fit the songs really well. The Dead music is indistinguishable song to song so not sure how you'd tailor video to certain songs.
I don't see Pearl Jam making the $$$ investment to do something like U2 did. The band loves art, but they are 30 years behind U2 as far as stage show is concerned as that wasn't the world they wanted to live in. The motivation would more likely be a residency at a cool venue than really doing something phenomenal like U2.
I'm also curious how the sound will be at the Shere for a band like Pearl Jam that has 3 guitars going on most songs (with Josh) and the guitars are typically really muddy. It will still be better than any other venue they have played, but will interesting how the Sphere does with a rock band with multiple distorted guitars.
