I don’t get the whole 35 years either. They celebrated 20 years (as lots of bands do). Why would they have a 35th anniversary event?
They are riding on the wave of a new album that has been widely received. Why wait 5 years for a 40th, when we they may not even be around then. Plus the band said to expect something special towards the end of year.
There’s nothing significant about 35 tho. I think that’s what you’re missing. Not that that’s not hard to do, but what’s to celebrate about that number specifically.
It’s divisible by 5 is all I got as far as significance.
Twenty made sense. 40 makes sense. The “who knows what will happen” argument still doesn’t add any significance to the number 35.
The only reason I could see it is that they weren’t able to do a 30th because of covid. I agree w/ your overall point.

In another 5 years I'm not sure I'll want to fly to see them with all the expenses, especially if there's a significant decline in Ed's voice and ticket prices would just continue to be even higher.  I'm sure the band would still sound good but if/when it becomes a GNR situation I'm out with no regrets. I also don't live anywhere near where the band ever plays.

You truly can not compare PJ to that cash grab grift they have going. But I get what you’re saying.

I saw one of the GNR shows in 2023 and while obviously Axl’s voice isn’t so great any more, they played a full energy 3 hour show, everything I could possibly have wanted to hear, and the music excluding the vocals was super well played.  To each their own but I enjoyed the experience greatly.

Yeah same. Excellent show on that tour.

They most definitely will return in 2026. The UK “leg” for the tour was a complete joke. I guess they felt pressed for time, somehow🤷‍♂️, and only decided to do what they did. Which was a lil bit insane, really. Late announcement, so few shows, and completely out of this world prices, led to some egg on their face, without a doubt.
It’s pretty bush league to have done what they did, and i sincerely hope it opened their eyes. How they agreed to charge that we’ll never know.
I hope they don't pull that sh*t in SA, or they will be playing to empty venues
The size of their tour for 2024’s Euro shows fits with their current style of touring.  Short legs.  They went all the way to Australia/NZ to play 7 show

They played to over 300,000 people in Aus/Nz though.
In ‘22 they played 17 in Europe, in ‘18 they played 15. So the 9 they scheduled was a lil atypical for them, maybe, maybe not. Its just, again, for an album that reinvigorated them and they were so proud of, they could have waited until October and did the usual 12-15 or, omg, TWENTY  shows in Europe. Maybe coulda shaken things up a bit, played Hamburg, or Cologne, or Warsaw, or Rotterdam, or Antwerp or………..the list goes on and on, sadly🤷‍♂️🥹🥹

Same here, although I think it was in 2021. It was the first show I attended coming out of the pandemic, so it must have been August 2021 (because PJ at Ohana was after that). Axl's voice was a little rough at times, but when you're singing along, it kind of smooths everything out. "Estranged" was a major highlight.
I gather speed from you fucking with me.

Doesn’t have to be PJ35 related at all. It could just be a 30th Anniversary Soldier Field show, as last time they played Soldier Field was July 1995

I won’t say GNR, even tho that’s what it was booked as, but I say I just saw Axl back in like 2004 maybe? And he sounded great still. I’ll die on the hill that I’m glad I saw that over what they’re doing now…I’ll lose that battle every time. I know. I just see the videos of his voice recently and it kills it for me. I can’t do it. People love it tho, so whatever works!
I love seeing the chili peppers even tho I know Anthony is vocally maybe one of the worst frontmen, I get it.

He definitely sounded better during the last tour than how he has sounded the last 10 years or so.

No way he was better than the first shows with Slash/Duff back or him with ACDC

I thought it was fun seeing Guns in 2018 ( It hink it was), but the show was a biiiiiiiiiiit long and the vocal issues are hard to ignore (but I mean, it is what it is).

I think it’s because they also started using a teleprompter recently. I think that actually helps a lot. Truly just helps AK’s confidence I think. I’ve seen some shows where he misses cues and I think he just gets upset at himself and his performance suffers.

I don’t get the whole 35 years either. They celebrated 20 years (as lots of bands do). Why would they have a 35th anniversary event?
I said when they first announced PJ20 that from that summer until there was no more PJ that people would be obsessed with there being a PJ21, PJ22, PJ23, etc.

PJ fans didn't let me down

I refer to that incarnation of the band as either "Guns N' Roses" (with the scare quotes) or Axl Rose's All-Star Guns N' Roses Tribute Band.

Yeah, those screens are not my thing but they did not diminish my show experience in 2024 one bit. For the most part, I didn't even notice them.
I gather speed from you fucking with me.

The shows I saw in 2024 were (by far) > the shows I saw in 2023.

I couldn’t care less about the screens.

I can see the screens making a difference for the arena shows where they're replacing that 360 degrees of fans vibe. However I haven't had the good fortune to see them indoors in 9 years so like whatever man.
