Billy Strings is the best thing going in live music right now.

Better than PJ, D&C and Phish shows in the last couple of years in my honest opinion…
I'm happy for his success and understand why people love seeing him, but bluegrass at that scale just doesn't do it for me. I enjoyed seeing him when he was in smaller rooms, but i lose interest in an arena
seeing him at a 3k seater next week.  looking forward to it but not a big fan yet.
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.

Who specifically are the sources of these rumors? Have they been correct often in the past? I am kinda bummed about the Florida show. They are too big for that venue. Going to make tickets a nightmare! I haven’t seen them before and am already feeling down about it lol.

Ratdog was the best post Jerry band IMHO. Bob Weir in a small venue when he could still sing. If you ever saw the real Grateful Dead, or even the JGB, then none of these bands really compare. Billy Strings is good and so is JRAD. But it is not even close. I have never heard a note of Phish's music, and I do not really want to. I saw the real thing, many times. Bring on Pearl Jam 2025!

Would love it if they did, but not holding my breath
  • Without it, the whole intent of spreading out the wealth most equitably is totally lost. But I don't know if PJ can force TM to use a more layered/nuanced lottery system.

Absolutely.  Worst part of the presale last year was seeing people get so many shows and others get nothing.  Someone shouldn’t win for every show when others get nothing.  Priority at least helped with that.

Show priority should return, but won't. If they use the same program as last tour, get ready for an unexpected # of people to score double-GA's at the two-night stands and a solid percentage to get shut out of both (if you don't go for P2's). Seems pretty lazy to not have priority as part of the system. There must be a $ reason TM doesn't want it in the lottery, at least we have F2F.

Everything sounded like one long song at the Dead show.  I understand the drugs making it more enjoyable, but I only had a buzz from alcohol going.  Me and my buddy both agreed to leave early after intermission.

    Some thoughts on recent topics:

    1) Canada lottery - in 2020 it was a separate lottery from US although run at the same time.

    2) Dead and Co. - I don’t mind them - PJ is much better imo - but Dead and Co. at Sphere was a disappointment.  Venue did not suit them.  They need to be at an amphitheater or something, and definitely outdoors.  Instead of a repeat Dead and Co. @ sphere while out west I hit PJ at Bottlerock and have no regrets at all.
Respecfully disagree on part of point #2. If there was ever a venue suited for a particular band the Sphere is just that for DeadCo

Well this is not the right thread for this discussion, but there was a real ebb and flow to their shows. Some days were good, and some days less so. And some days it was just fun watching hippie chicks tripping balls  :o
  • Yeah I don’t think priority will come back. But Hollywood will be like MSG, can only win 1.

Id probably argue it’s more suited to bands like U2 and Muse who have always built through “composed” multimedia shows. Phish did a better job than d&c with the flexible jammy visuals too imo

  • I would have to be paid at least $1,000 to sit through a Dead & Co show at the Sphere.  It was awful in May.  Sphere was cool.  Music was dreadful.
Most overrated band of all time potentially. They fit perfectly with the Sphere gimmick.
Obviously everyone has an opinion - I was at 17 PJ shows this year and Dead at sphere was better overall experience then all of them.
I love the real Grateful Dead (more than PJ even), but Dead and Slow is hard to watch.  It's just Bobby and Mickey (barely) playing songs at half speed and hired musicians trying to cover up their mistakes.  That said, I would probably go to a Sphere show if convenient.

It depends.    I wear ankle socks with shorts in the summer but I prefer  long socks in the winter for the added warmth
