Scared of Fear

PJ5a1PJ5a1 Oceanside, NY Posts: 421
Such an awesome opener... That bridge/break is amazing and the intensity is going to be so awesome live once that build up comes....

Hear the voices calling all around my head
Have I lost my friend?
Is this what we've become
One last setting sun
I give but I won't give up
I'll live not enough
To stop these voices calling
Stop the voices calling
All around my head
As if you never left

MY GOODNESS!
If I were Eddie Vedder, would you like me any better? - Local H

Yeah this is a real strong way to kick the doors in....I read somewhere that it was described as 'nondescript' or 'forgettable' 😮🤷
I'm sure glad I don't feel that way about it, at all!

I love everything about this tune. Love the nod to The Band / Last Waltz with the pool break leading into Stone's riff. This will be a fun one to learn on guitar

My fav on the record after 5 listens. Could be about his wife or maybe Cornell? I hope Eddie’s not getting a divorce. Lyrics are throughout the whole record

I definitely hear an AC/DC influence in the guitar riff.  Great song!
Up here so high I start to shake, Up here so high the sky I scrape, I've no fear but for falling down, So look out below I am falling now, Falling down,...not staying down, Could’ve held me up, rather tear me down, Drown in the river

Am I the only one thinking about Keith Richards "jumping" on the stage to play the first riff?  B)

Yeah, this is a great way to start the album.
I love how it starts out really quiet and then builds up.  Always been a fan of songs like that.

I think it's the best opening track since whoever said. I'm kidding, but im not. I thought whoever said was the best song they had recorded in at least 18 years when it was released. Still do. Scared of fear is great too though, and might be my favorite from the new album.

Wow, 18 years. Why were you still hanging around if you didn’t like ANYTHING they had put out in all that time? Crazy.

I enjoy this song. Sounds very similar to Brother the Cloud both musically and thematically. The bridge is suuuper similar to the outro of BTC

It really made me think there are references to Cornell. 😭

Was Ed even close to Cornell? Seems like everyone wants to think that every song is about him. I don't get it.

Go, Who Ever Said, and Scared of Fear are all great songs! The lyrics keep on getting better with each album. There's a stretch in Who Ever Said from about 2:40 - 4:30 that is gold in my opinion.   Enjoy the new music everyone

Extremely, but not as much in the years before he died. Cornell was living in LA with his 2nd wife and it seems like maybe a lot of Seattle people were wishing they saw him more often.
I personally suspect Comes Then Goes is at least partially about him but I think that’s about the extent of it. Some people seem to see it in songs I just don’t see it in.
