I love it. Can't get it out of my head. I think I had something in my eye while this was playing in the theatre lolPost edited by donraven onBoston, MA - Sept 28, 2004

It's one of my favourite PJ songs in years, can't stop listening to it. LEGENDS!0

Was thrown off initially by this track, and after repeated listens, I still can't get on board with the initial verses and chorus. It's the pop-like melodies I think.
However, I really love the outro to this song. From 3:00 mark and onward, it's wonderful. The outro is the reason why I won't skip this track, and I will endure the initial verses lol. And I imagine that I'll like this track more once heard in succession with the other tracks, as it sounds like this album is great as a whole.I'm spinning, oh-oh-oh I'm spinning0 -

All of the songs seem connected. If I were to venture a guess, it would be about someone who is dealing with a loved one who has been having a hard time mentally over the last several years, and they are coping.
Again, not autobiographical and not about anyone in particular. Just sort of a story. The "Dark Matter" to me represents both the dark things happening in the world, real or not, and also the dark places people and their relationships can go.Turn this anger into

I'm surprised by how polarizing this song is. It's my wife's favorite at the moment, I think it's middle of the pack on DM, which is not too shabby in my opinion. So many people outright hate it, I don't get it, not that I have to, but I don't.Randall's Island 9/29/96, Continental Arena 9/8/98, MSG 9/10/98, Jones Beach 8/23/00, 8/24/00, 8/25/00, Nassau Coliseum 4/30/03, MSG 7/8/03, 7/9/03, Continental Arena 6/1/06, 6/3/06, MSG 6/24/08, 6/25/08, Spectrum 10/30/09, 10/31/09, MSG 5/20/10, 5/21/10, PJ20 9/3/11, 9/4/11, Charlottesville 10/29/13, Charlotte 10/30/13, Global Citizen 9/26/15, Raleigh 4/20/16 :( Baltimore 3/28/20 :( Austin 9/18/23, 9/19/23, Forum 5/21/24, Baltimore 9/12/24, Fenway 9/17/24, Nashville 5/6/25, 5/8/250

Listening now. It thought it was cool at first, but it didn't move me for a number of listens as much as some of the others. Now I think it's a really beautiful song. Still haven't heard a quality version of the album, but as much as I think this is a great song, I don't think it's in the top 50% of this album, and that's a GREAT thing

I like Wreckage. Best one from the album I've heard so far (only listened to Dark Matter and Running). The only people we should try to get even with...
...are those who've helped us.

I was in an all day meeting at work and had to wait all day to hear it.
I like it, I think I still like DM better, but it's a good solid song and makes me excited for the rest.1998: Noblesville, IN 08-172000: Noblesville, IN 08-182003: Noblesville, IN 06-222006: Cincinnati, OH 06-242010: Noblesville, IN 05-072016: Lexington, KY 04-26, Wrigley Field 2 08-222018: Wrigley Field 1 08-18, Wrigley Field 2 08-202022: St. Louis, MO 09-182024: Noblesville, IN 08-26, Wrigley Field 1 08-29, Wrigley Field 2 08-31

Definitely getting the Petty vibes. It was the first thing I thought when hearing it. Like someone said above, the outro is really when the song gets excellent.you couldn't swing if you were hangin' from a palm tree in a hurricane0

Lifted said:Not really feeling this one.
The first two singles from the album, and the comments from the band about it being heavier than you'd expect, had me pretty intrigued. Having listened to all of the audio clips, I'm not sure what they were talking about. It's almost exactly what I'd expect if I were expecting the worst.
I'm glad people are enjoying this track, but this doesn't sound like the Pearl Jam I love. It sounds like Pearl Jam for people who love Sirens. Unfortunately I hated that song and the album it came from. I just think it's an extreme departure from the band they were and not in a good way. The slower tempo songs and ballads used to have an edge to them. This just sounds soft.
Still heard some interesting stuff in the other clips, and can't wait to listen to the album in its entirety, but I'm really taming my expectations at this point. From what I've heard, wreckage, won't tell and something special sound like Pearl Jam exercising their worst indulgences to me....but maybe, hopefully, I'll be pleasantly suprised when I give the album a proper listen.Tweeter Center - Aug 29, 2000;Tweeter Center - Aug 30, 2000;Allstate Arena - Oct 09, 2000;Pepsi Arena - Apr 29, 2003;Bryce-Jordan Center - May 03, 2003;Bell Center - Jun 29, 2003;Tweeter Center - Jul 02, 2003;Tweeter Center - Jul 03, 2003;Tweeter Center - Jul 11, 2003;Tweeter Center at the Waterfront - Jul 05, 2003;Tweeter Center at the Waterfront - Jul 06, 2003;Madison Square Garden - Jul 08, 2003;Madison Square Garden - Jul 09, 2003;TD Banknorth Garden - May 24, 2006;TD Banknorth Garden - May 25, 2006;Fleet Center - Sept 28, 2004;Fleet Center - Sept 29, 2004;Pepsi Arena - May 12, 2006 New England Dodge Music Arena - May 13, 2006;Grant Park - Aug 05, 2007;Bonnaroo - Jun 14, 2008;Dodge Music Center - Jun 27, 2008;Tweeter Center - Jun 28, 2008;Tweeter Center - Jun 30, 2008 XL Arena - May 15, 2010;TD Garden - May 17, 2010;Alpine Valley Music Theatre - Sept 03, 2011;Alpine Valley Music Theatre - Sep 04, 2011 Corel Centre - Sep 16, 2005;Colisee Pepsi Arena - Sep 20, 2005; Wrigley Field - July 19, 2013; DCU Center - Oct 15, 2013; DCU Center - Oct 16, 2013; Fenway Park - August 5, 2016; Fenway Park - August 7, 2016
