Not infamous, but I did see Crazy Mary as the opening song at my first show - Spectrum 4.28.03. Per livefootsteps, that happened one other time.
I was at the other one, MSG 2003 I think.
We tried so hard to get tix to those shows at MSG in July, but could not. Ended up getting tix to Holmdel in a drop.
IMO you got the better show.
I'll ride the wave where it takes me......

I just happened to be looking at a recent thread, and saw one user, @HailHailVitalogy , had the Uniondale show as their first one, which I think would be a hell of an introduction to pearl jam shows! I’d love to hear your stories if you’ve been to one of these shows. Obviously, the Long Island one would be perceived as a “negative” infamous example, but I’m all about the positive so crazy setlists, surprise guests - my definition of infamous can stretch to encompass lots of shows 😊 For example Halifax would def qualify as it’s the only time pearl jam were in the Maritimes, and that’s where Ed discovered our Alexander Keith’s 8 pack of beer.

Uniondale was my first show as well, they put on an amazing show - forget the naysayers - they composed themselves very well

It was a great show. Could have been an even better show if Ed did not get pissed off.

Eastern Creek Raceway, Australia 1995, often talked as legendary show. (I wish I had a time machine).
I was from UK backpacking. Went with a fellow backpacker who was staying at the same backpackers hostel.
He was called Co (Nick). When we first met briefly he had a pearl jam t-shirt, I said 'Noooo....a pearl jam t shirt'!!!... (meaning amazing to meet someone else as mad as me about Pearl Jam).

Anyway about a week later I said you've not worn your pearl jam t shirt again, and he said when you said nooo a pearl jam t shirt I thought you didn't like them so I've not worn it.
I explained and we had a good laugh about it over a few beers and were from then on constantly talking anything pearl jam. He had a guitar and could play a few songs too.
    Special times.

Mine was 1996 Merriweather Post. I had front row from the 10c. I think it's most known for the elusive mermaid poster.  They played Wash. I also loved the part where Ed said something like..it's not like I don't know the lyrics, it's just I have a lot on my mind. I hate to be misunderstood.

It was August of '91 and I was visiting my brother who lives in Mukilteo, WA. I had the Mother Love Bone album and knew, from Rolling Stone, of a new band forming from their remnants. My brother had heard of a free show so we went down to the Mural Amphitheater and experienced their awesomeness. I was hooked.

First show was Hartford 96.  Very memorable because I somehow ended up getting caught in the pepper spray incident up in the lawn.

Uniondale was my first show. Listening to that boot on repeat all summer is what turned me into an obsessive. The band was incredible. The moment at the end was one more confirmation that Long Island does not agree with me…
I listened to that boot on my original iPod that entire summer as well. I had nosebleeds but remember RVM early in the set and Bushleaguer. Then my second and third shows were MSG 2003. Had seats already for the first night in the first row of the old 300s…and then that night TM did a 400s section dump for the second night. It was done and over with for the rest of my life.

Took my best friend to his first show last year….FW2 🔥

Lollapalooza 92....went solo. Met a friend there and two sweet rockers...handed off my brown corduroy jacket to her to hop into the pit. Sure EV saw it and knew he had to get one. ;)

Man some great ones in this thread! I thought my first show was infamous for having a dancing cow there - but then Ed asked if he attended all the pearl jam shows dressed like that lol

My 2nd show I brought a buddy to his first (and, I think to date only, though he did come with us to the House of Blues to watch Fenway 1 in 2016) show in 1998, Mansfield 2. Some a-hole was throwing quarters on stage leading to Eddie's epic rant and threat to end the show early.
