We are staying at the Hilton/Magnificent Mile and taking the Red line from Clark/Division. Going back that night, how is the neighborhood that we will be walking through to get back to the hotel? It seems ok, but we usually stay by Grant Park, so I have not been up in that area at night.
Actually, that's the exact hotel that I'm staying at too!
We need to form a group and stay together... :)

We will only be going to the Saturday show, but that sounds like an idea.

I wonder how many others are staying at the same hotel/area?

If you can find an airbnb close to Wrigley that would be the easiest option. If you're coming back downtown after the show the Red Line is the most convenient (by proximity to Wrigley) to get back downtown. It DEFINITELY takes patience. Like others have suggested, walking up a stop isn't a bad idea. For me, after standing for 3.5 hours I'm not a big fan of walking for another 20 minutes. Find a bar in the neighborhood, have a drink and let the crowd disperse is a great option too. I LOVE the idea of groups getting back to hotels safe. 2024 Chicago is not 2016 Chicago.
  • I stayed at the Fairfield magnificent mile for another concert at Wrigley last year and I didn’t feel unsafe at all walking from the subway station to the hotel after the show.  It did take a while to get a train just because of the number of people.

I think that's the other thing, there will be thousands of people leaving the concert and going to the various neighborhoods after. It's not like you will be walking down and empty street with no one around.

Hey Chicago locals - we're staying at the Hyatt in Wicker park for Saturday's show. Is there an easy bus route to get there and back? Thanks!
I would not take the train.  If you don't mind a little walk, your best best is to hop on the Ashland bus and get off at Addison.  From there you will have about a 5-6 block walk to Wrigley.  Otherwise, Uber/Lyft would work.

For your location, the train will be more hassle than it is worth.  You aren't that close to a Blue Line Stop and you have to head downtown to transfer which is the opposite direction of Wrigley.  Then you will have to hop on a crowded ass Red Line.  Not worth it in my opinion.
An Uber might cost $15 there, but $100 back due to demand.
Happened to me in 2018. Demand was so high, we even went to a bar for a couple hours and walked quite a ways, still was $80 I think 2 or 3 hours after the show when it was only a $15 ride there.

For sure.  It will be much cheaper going there.   If you are doing rideshare after your best best is to wait out the price surge at one of the numerous watering holes around Wrigley.

    Free Remote Parking

Don’t fret over parking expenses because the Cubs have got you covered with free remote parking at 3900 N. Rockwell St. It’s a gem, located just east of the Chicago River. Accessible from Irving Park Road, this parking lot is a game-changer for night and weekend games. Plus, with a free shuttle service whisking you to and from Wrigley Field, you can save your energy for cheering on the team. Shuttles start their rounds two hours before the first pitch, ensuring you arrive with time to spare. After the game, catch a ride back up to one hour post-game. Pickup and drop-off is conveniently located on Irving Park Road between Clark Street and Seminary Avenue.

This bus service is also available for other events at Wrigley.  Took it last time PJ played there.  Also took it for Guns 'n Roses last year. Super convenient for those coming from outside the city.

Are we to go off of the Cubs' website for entry guidelines on what can be brought into Wrigley? Doesn't sound like drawstring bags need to be clear.  Below is what it says on cubs.com.

Our touchless entry process does not require you to remove items such as mobile phones, wallets and keys before passing through the metal detector.

Bag restrictions are in place for the 2024 season. Backpacks (including clear backpacks), hard-sided coolers (regardless of size) and bags larger than 16 x 16 x 8 inches are NOT permitted at Wrigley Field. Other bags (such as wallets, purses, drawstring bags, fanny packs, lunch bags, briefcases and soft-sided coolers) smaller than 16 x 16 x 8 inches in size are permitted. Exceptions will be made for medical bags and diaper bags that accompany guests with young children. Bags are subject to inspection. Please review the Prohibited Items List below for more details.

But after the show, bring your patience! The train stop outside the stadium is NUTS! Last year for Dead & Co we ended up walking back to our hotel (about a mile south down Clark) both nights and got there faster than we would have if we had waited to be able to get on the train.
When we saw PJ at Wrigley in 2016, we walked to the stop prior to Addison (Belmont, I think?) and caught the EL before everyone got on the Addison stop at Wrigley.  Walk took maybe 5-10 minutes, but totally worth it to avoid the craziness.
    This is the way

  • Ok, I didn’t see a post on a Quick Look so not trying to derail, BUT.  Have a bunch of buddies coming, some first timers…really want to show off a good pregame where the bar is playing PJ only (mostly). I always remember that when I was young and pumping me up so much.  Anyone know what bars will be PJ heavy?
